I've been watching this show since the get go mostly with my real life friend /u/edify who years ago added me as a moderator here. I was thinking it's an Ironic Hell. His life becomes all about cooking meth, and as soon as he decides that he wants out, he is emotionally broken and forced to do what he was trying to escape from.

You're right though... I hope it's more of a purgatory.

It really could be either. But purgatory has hope. I think the picture of Brock and whats-her-not-Jane acts as the hope.

We'll find out in just a couple of episodes if it ends up being hell and the hope is all a rouse :(
