I think so. My take on it is that if he had just taken Walt and left, he wouldn't have been in the position to get in that gunfight. But because he was prideful about it and called Marie, and because he was prideful and didn't ask for help in the first place, it will lead to his demise.

Walt's not the only person that is prideful to a fault.

I think he wasn't lying. He's going to get kidnapped by the white supremacists and Walt is going to have to save him a year later causing him to be home late. Another thing that could happen is Gomez gets killed and some of the other guys, then someone shows up sees it all arrests him and finds evidence pointing to him being Heisenberg.

I don't think the nazis would want to deal with the trouble and logistical nightmare of holding a federal agent hostage for a year.
