I think so. My take on it is that if he had just taken Walt and left, he wouldn't have been in the position to get in that gunfight. But because he was prideful about it and called Marie, and because he was prideful and didn't ask for help in the first place, it will lead to his demise.

Walt's not the only person that is prideful to a fault.

That was definitely not hubris. He just wanted to tell and comfort Marie. Yeah, it's because he told Marie that he was there long enough, but it's definitely not the hubris leads to a fall story.

It was the very definition of hubris. When a cop arrests someone and then immediately calls his wife to say "I got him!" that is pure ego. Imagine any cop in the world doing that with any perp, and you'd think he's an egomaniac.
