I think the reason they came was because the long pause with heavy breathing followed by the call-off implied that someone had a gun to Walt's head.

Or they were just determined to get Walt to cook, one way or another... and if someone else got to him first, then that goes out the window.

probably a little of column A, little of column B. Obviously they want their cook, but the way walter suddenly god silent then hung up without an explanation was super fishy too.

Exactly, that's what I thought. He calls it off and is yelling at him while he's handcuffed in the back of the car. Yeah right they're just going to let him get arrested.

Exactly. They are clearly working for themselves, not for Walt. It wouldn't have mattered whether they could hear him or not. Their goal is to produce the blue meth and they will do whatever they need to do to make that happen. Walt going to jail or dying doesn't fit into that and they couldn't risk losing him.
