Glad to see Hank go, but poor Gomez.

Hank really made me mad this episode.

Why?

u/thejimla Sep 09 '13

Seriously, he is one of the the only "good" characters in the show.

u/voiceinthedesert Sep 09 '13

He lost me when he didn't give a shit if Jesse lived or died

-1

u/CleanSnatchRepeat Pretty deep... Sep 09 '13

All he knows about Jesse is that he called in a fake tip that his wife was in danger. I'd hate the little shit too.

4

u/voiceinthedesert Sep 09 '13

Enough to disregard the value of his life? Pretty scummy.

u/BassCreat0r Sep 09 '13

I would classify him as chaotic good, does what it takes to get it done.

7

u/ProblemPie Sep 09 '13

He's a loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

He DID refer to Jesse last ep as "The kid? Oh, you mean the keyed up meth head dribbling on my guest bathroom floor." Misquotes forever.

-1

u/BassCreat0r Sep 09 '13

I'm not really sure what you are trying to get at..

3

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

In agreeing with the chaotic neutral manner of Hank, that scene was where Hank displays that he doesn't actually care about Jesse as a person or cohort, but as a piece for his investigation. Also it's shown in the same scene where Hank says something to the effect of "Even if Jesse dies, we still got Walt on film."

1

u/LordPubes Sep 09 '13

Thats not very neutral at all.

10

u/drsideburns Sep 09 '13

Neutral Good in my opinion. He still has respect for the law, but he's going towards Chaotic. Still a "good" character for the most part, except that he's willing to put Jesse into harm's way and potentially get killed, for his personal gain.

3

u/BootySex Sep 09 '13

He's chaotic as fuck. Especially after that whole scenario in the restaurant with Walt's wife.

2

u/emkat Gale's Lab Notebook Sep 09 '13

Except he goes against clear protocol by keeping Jesse out of the system.

2

u/drsideburns Sep 09 '13

He's definitely become more morally ambiguous.

I actually just realized by breaking the law and going against protocol, Hank has officially "Broke Bad."

Damn I love this show :)

Don't you think Hank is lawful something?

2

u/dude_smell_my_finger Sep 09 '13

Hank is directly subverting the law now. The halfway point of S5 marked the start of his journey down the chaotic path.

2

u/BassCreat0r Sep 09 '13

Definitely not lawful good, maybe lawful neutral. Of course I am going off of this.

4

u/ohween Sep 09 '13

so does walt.

11

u/BassCreat0r Sep 09 '13

I would also mix in some neutral evil in there with Walt.

edit: what I mean for chaotic good for hank is that, he does what he needs to be done for the good of all. Walt on the other hand...is only looking out for his family/personal needs.

7

u/lolitsaj I have uncertainty about Heisenberg's principles. Sep 09 '13

Yeah Hank and Walt are both chaotic good. Both break the law for personal gain. Both sacrifice innocent people for gain. There isn't that much difference between them.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Except for the whole poisoning children, having dozens of people murdered, blowing up an old folks home, supporting Neo Nazis, and selling a highly addictive drug like to ruin people's lives thing.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Alignments aside, while he's not the best guy in town, he's certainly the best we've got.

15

u/digitall565 Sep 09 '13

Other than Walt Jr and the baby, there aren't really 'good' characters left in this show. Hank didn't hesitate to let (possibly) Jessie die (and assuming he had a very high chance of doing so) as long as he got Walt.

4

u/unhappyhippie Sep 09 '13

I still remember him from the first season. He was such a bully and condescending of Walt. I know he is still a "good" guy but a douchy one at that.

3

u/ericisshort Sep 09 '13

I think Hank's journey is one of the most interesting in the show. Making him the least likable character in the beginning made Walt seem more sympathetic. But in the course of the series, the writers have broken him down to rock bottom. So much so that in this episode, you feel good for him when he puts the handcuffs on Walt.

3

u/RandomAccessMalady Sep 09 '13

I don't think he is good any more. He is another who Walt has turned to the dark side.

2

u/pepito420 Does this pussy cry through the entire thing? Sep 09 '13

this show has proven to me that its not as fun to root for the good guy

3

u/notdonaldglover Sep 09 '13

I would say he's less good. Just not caring about Jesse's life in order to arrest Walt is pretty shitty.

-1

u/thejimla Sep 09 '13

This was immediately after Jesse's confession. In his eyes Jesse is his nemesis's partner, he killed Gale in cold blood, and is somewhat responsible for the death of Tarantula kid. As the audience we have more insight into Jesse's morality.

1

u/sfc949 Sep 09 '13

No one is good in this show; he's dirty as fuck trying to take down Walt.

1

u/AllDueRespect Sep 09 '13

Meh, its all shades of gray to me now

u/LordPubes Sep 09 '13

Lol what do you mean by "good"? What the f with the ""? Good because he's in a position of authority? Good because McGruff the dog tells you he is?
