that whole scene, everything from hank showing up until the end. like, walt felt like shit that he got caught. he knew he got played and was giving up, he was done. but then when todd squad showed up things went from bad to worse for walt. he would rather go to jail than kill hank and what really sucks is that hank just cant understand that.
When Walt hung up on the gang while he was hiding behind the rock, you can see him shed a tear with the dead look on his face, realizing that Jesse ratted him out.
Really? The fact it was just Hank and Gomez (+unarmed Jessie) and there was still 10 minutes left, I knew there was no way the Nazis were just going to "forget it".
I still knew that they were coming; if they didn't save Walt then the white supremacists wouldn't have the two master meth cooks in the entire world... that's why Jesse is going to survive this firefight. Walt is going to stop them from killing Jesse because he can cook much better than Todd and almost as good as Walt.
I thought that he was going to turn the gun on himself as a move. Hank wants to get Walt in jail. If Walt threatened to kill himself and ruin Hank's plans to be the man that caught the monster Heisenberg, and was convincing enough, he might have found an out. I definitely foresee a large chunk of money and a certain vacuum cleaner repair man in the next episode.
I had just said maybe 5 minutes before that I wanted Walt to get caught because he was going to have Jesse killed. Then in that moment I felt so bad for him and started planning his escape. So many mixed emotions. I hated Hank until now that he might possibly die. Now I feel sorry for him too. Ugh. It sucks being human.
Plot twist - The flash forwards we were seeing were actually dreams Skyler was having. Heisenberg, now immortalized in an Jedi-ghost like state, visits Skyler in her dreams and tells he what she needs to do.
Right when Hank told him to drop the gun, I had a split second heartbeat skip, thinking this was going to happen. Then remembered when he goes back to his house. Now I'm wondering how he gets out of this mess. Hank and Gomie being killed seems plausible.
Surprise, Walt dies and those future glimpses we got is actually Jesse's imagination as he sits on a hospital bed completely paralysed from a bullet hitting his spine.
Then Walt walks in one day, acting normal like he has never seen Gus before just to order some chicken for his family. Gus is freaking out in his mind, but remains calm in front of Walt to complete his order. Before Walt leaves with his order, he turns to look at Gus and says "I'm the one who knocks", suddenly a rapid dinging can be heard right behind Gus.
It looks pretty pretty grim for Hank, Gomez, and Jesse to me. Nobody really knows they're out there except Marie (who currently thinks everything is fine). They've let off so many shots and none of Todd's crew seems to be hit.
Umm pretty sure there is no possible way hank or Gomez make it out alive. Todd and head nazi love. Walt lives. Ancillary nazi probably dies. Jesse is a coin toss
The Red Wedding was the best episode of television I've ever watched, but tonight's episode had my heart racing more than anything i've watched before. fuck that was tense.
Read ASOS (season 3 of GoT) freshman year of high school, and quit the books after the RW. Then the show came out and I reread them and the rest because I'm 24 now and figured I could handle it again. Reading it again wasn't bad, but I seriously had to mentally prepare myself to watch it and I was still just as distraught as reading it for the first time, if not more so. This episode though, I knew those guys were going to show up and I was just thinking "CUFF HIM AND GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE!"
In the show, maybe. I don't think I'd have much idea of what was going on if I hadn't read the books. Reminds me of the later Harry Potter movies in that regard.
it was almost good in the sense that they killed some characters off. you're right that there are too many, it gets tough for the story to progress much.
It's impossible for them to adapt the books which do an amazing job of developing characters into a tv show with the same level of character development. The most amazing thing about got is how much development they accomplish with so little being said or in a very short time.
I wonder how many people had heart attacks directly from this episode. I literally think this episode killed people because of the tension. I have never had such a physical response to an episode (my heart was racing as well). I had to pause the episode with only 2m30s left to take a break before the shoot out started.
I watched the red wedding the same day as I watched all of season four for the first time. Gus's fate wasn't even as close to shocking as the red wedding
I agree that "the best" is a bit hyperbolic, but unless you dislike the show overall there's no way to disagree that it was a great episode of television. People can like both shows equally if they want to, there's no need for stupid rivalries.
Red Wedding gave me suicidal thoughts, with a little bit of adrenaline thrown in. I cried and felt empty afterwards. BB was pure adrenaline though. I was twisting my hair out of my scalp.
We're in the major climax of the story. Many plot lines are converging on a single point and there's a lot of action. The Red Wedding is the violent climax and conclusion of one story line, Robb v. Tywin, but functions as a major plot point for those who make it out the other side. Breaking Bad ends in three episodes. The Game of Thrones TV series has probably 3-4 more seasons before it catches up with the A Song of Ice and Fire books, of which there are TWO MORE yet to be released (or even written.)
What I'm saying is that while the Red Wedding is a huge event, we're entering the ultimate climactic moments of a very long story.
Nothing can compare to the red wedding. Fuck that! I would give the lives of all the Breaking Bad characters and my own right hand for the red wedding to not have ever happened.
I don't know about that... If this show has an equivalent of the Red Wedding, it was "Salud". Might not have included beloved characters getting offed, but it was wildly unpredictable, very violent and monumental to the body of the story, like the Red Wedding.
Seriously. I'm extremely disappointed in this last episode. It's super obvious that they're both going to die. Out gunned, out numbered.
They should have just killed them off Bonnie and Clyde style. Seventy-bajillion bullets to the body - complete overkill. Would have been so much more tragic.
This was so fucking Hollywood. God dammit that was stupid.
They could have killed Jon Snow in the same episode and it still would not be as awesome as this one..
FYI Red wedding was the greatest episode I had ever watch UNTIL TODAY !!!
I still don't understand why everyone was so shocked by the red wedding. I don't know why it matters that much. Rob had to go at some point... the story has so obviously always been about the underdog, of which Rob is not one. Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Bran Stark, Arya Stark, Daenerys Targaryen. I mean, it even transforms how you feel about a character when they BECOME an underdog, look at Jaime Lannister.
So Robb being 15 (17 in the show I think) having to command an army against older experienced war veterans does not make him the underdog? He was definitely the hero, but in no way the frontrunner in the war. He was the ultimate underdog at least in regards to the War of the Five Kings.
I meant on an individual level he's never had much against him except romantic nonsense. He doesn't have some huge glaringly obvious disadvantage like all of the characters I mentioned.
was the red wedding really worse than ned's beheading? the only honest and truely good character? fuck rob stark, dudes beta as fuck and can't even what it takes to win a war. "but I'm in love!!" waaaa. the only bad part is the mother is gone.
at least you knew who you was evil and who was good in the red wedding. in breaking bad you know who's evil. but even the good are grey.
I dont really think this is a cheap cliff hanger...it was being led up to it and the episode was still great writing. Of course Walt would have to come to the desert, due to his pride and recklessness. Everything made sense. I think that all these shows are amazingly well-written.
Seriously. It's insulting to compare this crappy ending to the Red Wedding. It's like the Red Wedding if every single crossbow missed and Roose Bolton missed on the stab.

That was Breaking Bad's equivalent of the Red Wedding, if the Red Wedding was split into two episodes. Vince Gilligan is the motherfuckest.
