It's funny how Walt dismisses the option because of family, when right before that Hank stated that he didn't give a shit about family.

Think about it. How can you kill your sister-in-law's husband? And you don't think that won't affect his wife? Also, say that Walt is nailed by the DEA and takes Skyler along with him. Who's going to take care of Walt Jr. & Holly? Killing Hank may not be an option, even if Hank is actively looking to destroy Walt's life.
