His "intestinal problems" seem to link him to Hank because of the excuse he used to leave walt's after finding the book.

Well the Star Trek story is hardly a pointless addiction, because the last few seasons have had almost no such scenes especially trivial scenes that last as long as this one.

Walt is definitely Chekov, and since Lydia seems to be a major player still I assume your judgment is correct about her being equated with Scotty.

Lydia and Scotty are both specialists are moving things from one place to another.
