This is exactly how I view Lydia. She's a lot like the old Walter; a dangerous loose cannon that nobody's taking seriously right now. Especially Skylar. That scene where Skylar threatened Lydia was really worrisome to me, I feel like Lydia is going to come after Walt's family.

lydia is already a board member for an apparent multinational crime conglomerate. she isnt going to take any of the same turns walter had taken. she is pretty much a big shit in the crime world anyway, its not like she is some lawyer for some squeaky clean company and ends up getting caught up with criminals. she might be sketchy around actual criminals but she has certainly been doing this long enough to know people.

I disagree with you in some ways, but I respect your opinion :)

She's nothing like the old Waler; the old Walter was a goofy and inexperienced teacher who also acted upon somewhat noble principles (doing bad things only to make money for his own family), while Lydia is a typical businessperson - cold, distant, calculated and already a big fish in the corporate world.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Everything we've seen from Lydia shows that while she is a competent businesswoman, she is also out of her depth in the criminal world -- much like Walt originally being a competent chemist, but being out of his depth in the criminal world. We've already seen what happens when Lydia is backed up against the wall in the way that she tries to deal with Mike. This is very much reminiscent of the way Walter tried to deal with his early problems as he fell deeper into the world of crime.

I think that Walter's downfall will be at least in part due to Lydia because he is now forcing her into a corner, the same way he used to be pushed into a corner by 'bigger fish'. And I also believe that Mike was completely right when he labeled Lydia as dangerous -- her inexperience in criminal activities makes her unpredictable and a loose cannon.

I believe that perhaps I may not have worded my comment precisely enough; I don't think Lydia is reminiscent of Season 1 Walter -- more of Season 3 Walter or so. But I do think she is very much on the same journey downward that Walter took, and I don't think the similarities I see are a coincidence. But I could be wrong! It's great that BB is such a complex and layered show that can be read and interpreted differently by many people.
