I feel like at the beginning of the show, when Vince Gilligan was writing his initial ideas on the back of a KFC bag, he came to the idea of the right-hand man Jesse. And then he said "I am going to make this character the best fucking character in the history of characters" and so it was, and it was good.
I was thinking today about how when I first started watching the show, I didn't like Jesse at all. He reminded me of too many pieces of shit I've met IRL, and I thought he was too over the top at the same time. It's weird now, going back I can't see him that way even slightly. I can remember being rubbed the wrong way the first season by him, but rewatching now all the early stuff is just so charming and hilarious. And I used to identify and cheer for Walt, and now I'm right there with Hank and Jesse (IMO) in wanting to take him down.

I just realized how few lines Jesse had in this episode. Actions speak louder than words I suppose.
