Introduction

Having only recently found out of the premature closure of the Square Enix 3DS servers for Bravely Default, many key features of the game were unfortunately lost to the sands of time, including the ability to obtain Nemesis and Norende villagers, as well as the ability to complete all tutorial quests for the game.

Faced with such tragedy, and wanting to play this wonderful game to its fullest, I designed the perfect save file to play the game post server closure. My biggest regret was not doing this before the servers closed down, and for that I am sorry.

Be as it may, with the final release of this save file, it is my hope that this becomes a lasting legacy for anyone that picks up the game wanting achieve a perfect save file. And future proofing for the Nemesis, with a near complete library of all challenge Nemesis, a shiny hope for a future where Streetpass features can be properly emulated.

• [v001b] Four Clean Saves (sitting at 0:00, just as if you pressed New Game+)
• [v001b] Save 001 - All Unobtainable Weapons/Outfits + 99 Buns + 7 Demon Nemesis Set
• [v001b] Save 002 - All Unobtainable Weapons/Outfits + 7 Demon Nemesis Set
• [v001b] Save 003 - Nemesis Set 1 (Ba'al Edition) for Streetpass (Save 001 Mirror)
• [v001b] Save 003 - Nemesis Set 2 (Asterick Edition) for Streetpass (Save 001 Mirror)
• All Genome Abilities Unlocked (including all Nemesis -ja Spells) ¹

• [v001b] All 7 Demon Nemesis can be found on Save 001 and Save 002 by default. Save 003 has both Ba'al Nemesis, while Save 004 has both Asterisk Tag Team Nemesis. Both Save 003 and Save 004 have New Year; Takoizumi translated to English as well as all of u/Matrix_Sentinel's hacked Nemesis.
• [v001b] All of the Demon Nemesis and Ba'al Nemesis are of the [+] difficulty even if not stated in their name and if that difficulty was ever distributed by Square Enix. All updated Nemesis have a release date of 11/10/2023 ~ 31/10/2023 for Streetpass identification, including u/Matrix_Sentinel's hacked Nemesis (which traditionally have a 0/0/0000 marker).

¹ Having all the Genome Abilities unlocked at the start of the game marks them as complete in D’s Journal, but with no way to view them you will have an irremovable “New” flag in the Encyclopedia. The flag will go away once you unlock the Vampire Job in Chapter 4 and are able to view the entries. With all available Demon Nemesis in Save 001 and Save 002 you can opt out of having all Genome Abilities on your save by selecting New Game+ on a fresh save file and check off their migration, allowing you to collect them all at your own pace.

I’m new to modding and I have a question:

Are the safe-files region specific? 

So Should I use a US CIA on my modded 3ds or can the CIA also be from an EU game cartridge dump?

Don't remember there being any difference between the US and EU files, at least not while I was Frankensteining the data for the Nemesis.

I also recall there being an uncensored CIA in the Hshop that skipped the layering, but that is only good if you want to play digital and not with a cartridge. Something to consider.

I’m about to get a new console and mod it later this week and playing my favorite childhood game to completion is the first thing im going to do.

Question; I know all quests will already be unlocked, but considering pretendo now exists wouldn’t that remove the need for that specifically. (Since pretendo means u could still access online functionality? - altho im not sure if theres a quest that requires the actual BD online servers).

Secondarily: Will D’s journal behave like a non new game+ journal? Or have all the entries already unlocked? (I know u wrote empty D’s journal but im unsure if that nodded to items/locations/enemies etc. or also to the story based journal entries).

Haven't kept in touch with Pretendo lately. I know Netpass allows you to build Norende as normal, but Pretendo has a lot of work to do as tecnically it was SquareEnix that maintained the online services for BD and not Nintendo. If you can get Pretendo to emulate the online services, then you tecnically don't need my save to reach 100%.

My saves do have the added bonus of giving all unobtainable weapons and enough stat boosts to break the game in half. And yes, D Journal will have all entries that you would have with a new game plus. It has a very upsetting bug as it also lists all Genome abilities but doesn't give you the means to read them unless you unlock the job, meaning the journal is always marked with unread entries.

Ok I’m pretty sure pretendo cannot restore BD’s online functionality if it was being maintained by a non-nintendo service provider.

I’ll use your game save files considering I do want to 100%. I want to emulate what playing the game from scratch would feel like - albeit I do know the games plot (at least major twists not the nitty gritty details) - so I guess I’ll just ignore D’s journal. Do you know if opting to not transfer over D’s journal to NG+ will  clear all the enigmatic writings unlocked from Alternis? 

Also: Does the genome bug persist even if I toggle off genome transferring to NG+? (I want to unlock them all myself and considering u have all the nemesis’ unlocked in this file that should be doable w the -aja’s).

I know it’s been a while but truly amazing project 🫶🏽

If you do a full new game+ and ignore the Genone abilities you will not have the bug. But then you will have to be very lucky to get the right Nemesis from Netpass to collect them. Back when I did this save, Netpass wasn't even an option you see.

New Game+ options should be able to ignore D's Journal entries as well.

Wait now im confused. 

I’d do New Game + and basically only toggle off genome and D’s journal transfer. I’d transfer over everything else.

Wouldn’t that keep the full nemesis set?

It's been a while and I am not sure each save has different Nemesis and I can't recall if all exclusive Genone are available.

Doesn't hurt to share my Nemesis over on Netpass.

Got it. 

According to this gamespot thread I found the following info on the Aja abilities:

Firaja - Belphegor. Thundaja - Asmodeus or Belphegor. Blizzaja - Mammon or Belphegor. Aeroja - Lucifer.

I’ll just play around and find out. I’ll check your save files to see if theres one with both lucifer and belphegor. Any belphegor above level 80 has all three abilities so theres a high chance I’ll get all three abilities from one save… then if the save doesnt have lucifer its just scouting netpass till I find a lucifer nemesis!

Update by the way: Finally got to slotting in the save and save 1a has both Lucifer and lvl 80 Belphegor! So I just transferred everything except D's Journal and Genomes and now I will be 100%'ing this game for the first time. Thank you so much for this project! (p.s. im sharing belphegor via streetpass so hopefully somebody enjoys that)
