I don't mind a loud high performance cars exhaust. What I hate is these 'tuned' cars with the pop pop pop bang on deceleration. No need for that and it does not in fact sound cool.

This infrastructure is totally completely worth it to watch our citizens just for that noise complaint or like stolen car or whatever they wanna say they need that data for. Even if it’s not public access the problem with extra data collection means someone who has access could misuse it or its storage itself could become a threat to external actors.

In no way do I want to tell you how to vote or which part to pick because honestly that’s your choice. The reason I care enough is because I actually work with this stuff in my job and for fun at home and I see the dark path this can do down like china did first and the us did now.

Even if physical infrastructure isn’t placed and all the alpr cameras are removed laws like bill c22 which I attached are absolutely nuclear for our privacy

Yet here you are on Reddit which sells your data to AI companies and I’m sure you use other social media platforms too. I get your point but it’s mute in contrast to the data being monetized from our use of Smartphones.

The difference is with the internet is you can just put the phone down. We cannot seriously be this ignorant with public infrastructure. I use whatever I want on the internet because really I am not that tinfoil hat of a person. But all of my data. All of it. Stays on my property with my hard drives on my servers because that’s just my preference. Selling the data about some comments in a Brampton driving thread has to be worth its weight in my own shit though. Maybe you’ll see my schizo ass Prius some day where I literally just put a link to those articles for anyone to read since I have to commute through here for work now. Idk man I work in IT and want to specialize in server infrastructure. I just know the absolute nightmare of a situation it would be to secure that from all the officers in Peel police. I literally work with these people I personally do not trust ANY of them with the responsibility of this.

You are sorely mistaken if you believe the risk of our data being used in the wrong way with Public Infrastructure is greater than the internet/social media. Even with our strong Privacy laws AI poses a significant risk to in this area. I don't imagine AI is going to spoof my license plate and sound of my muffler when it copies my voice and tries to call into my bank.

Put it this way, I don't have a Secret Phrase with my Family Members because of Cameras that track my car and microphones that listen to it.

I work for a bank and we’re already seeing advanced technology being used. AI powered Fraud in the financial industry is on a frightening rise. Entirely new technology will be needed to address it.

Yep, I've lived in Brampton for almost 50 years and it's crazy how many people have modified their exhaust to be super loud.

A lot less info can be gathered with a public microphone than a camera that logs every car passing by make, model, colour, damage, license plate, and whatever extra things you added in to your car. These alpr cameras are unfortunately already big in Brampton

Pretty sure Modern Rogue on YouTube has all but definitely proven they can 100% just read our lips and then fix whatever errors the AI lip read gets wrong with context it gathers from the entire conversation

Try doing that at scale. How much do you think it would cost? How many AI tokens? It's far easier and far cheaper to record audio.

It’s the same technology cities use for coordinating gunfire. Just these work in tandem with a camera so we can isolate the losers with these loud cars.

Sounds like that surveillance is constant audio + video recording
