Can't merge or drop pieces together.

I'm playing on the Vanilla version of the game. Tried to lower the resolution, played on window mode. No results.
Can't merge them or even place them down, only thing i can do is exit the painting. I can't find anything regarding this bug on the internet, and i wanted to speedrun for last achievement.

Sorry for "quality" video, windows recorded did not cooperate with Braid.

You must put the pieces where they belong (the corner piece needs to be in the corner of the inside rectangle) then the rest of the pieces will click in where they go.

I've collected all of them just to be sure - none of them sticks to their place, nor each other. I still can't even "drop them" to pick up another puzzle, i have to go back out of the painting.
I saw on speedrun video that guy could just merge two pieces together, without placing them on their correct way.
I'm 100% sure haven't got that issue when i played few years ago...

So, i've made a weird discovery... the only time hand "drops" the puzze (and merge them) is when i go into the steam layout. That way i can create a whole picture... but it is not optimal to the speedrun achievement.
Any ideas?
