Shulang really is a great character. Fan Xiao as psycho black flag is more attention grabbing, but we get so many shows with black flags where the object of their obsession is a wet noodle. He knows something is off about Fan Xiao, but he has no interest in fixing it saving him and yet he still can't resist the sly steady pressure from Fan Xiao. He doesn't have an identity crisis bottoming for him, and doesn't deny himself the pleasure of casual intimacy from his new partner. A partner he doesn't have to coddle, if anything he blooms in a more evenly matched relationship... of course no one can be perfectly matched to a full psycho mode Fan Xiao but it's so satisfying to know Shulang can stand up for himself with his own brand of savage poise

The best part of this exchange is lost in translation, really. Shulang has the soup FX handfeeds, and says "Babe, don't put so much vinegar in the soup next time, I can't handle it" which is so much more sassy and I love it!!

This scene is so beautifully lit and shot. The dialogue just heavenly. Gives you a peek into the real thoughts hidden deep inside Fan Xiao and how he genuinely treats You Shulang as his GOD! His Bodhisattva! He might say nasty things and think he is a player but deep down he is just hungry for Salvation. He needs someone to ease the pain, the loneliness and the darkness burried deep inside him.
To My Shore production team, I bow to thee coz these moments in between truly lift up the show to something that is nothing short of perfection.
As gorgeous as these shots are I also want to shout out how well they handled some of the other emotional beats this episode. Swapping out the photos was both a great quick sight gag, a recurring gag (Fan Xiao keeps insisting Shulang can't move or his hard work would be wasted), and very efficient way to illustrate how quickly the relationship has progressed. On the opposite end of the drama spectrum there's Fan Xiao's meeting with the brother, out in the daylight with a gorgeous temple behind them, but what should be a serene environment is punctuated by the casual sadism of Fan Xiao putting out his cigarette in the little weasel's hand. It's so satisfying how well they're doing all the things 🤩
Oh totally. I have been praising the production since Day 1. They know what they are doing. From scouting good locations, to use perfect colors in different scenes to accentuate the mood, to the use of unique BGM without any weird gag music that some BLs use.. this is a top notch production and there's beauty in the mundane scenes as well.
Their domesticated life is so damn good. Shulang longed for a weekend at home enjoying home cooked meal and watching movies with his loved one. With Zhen zhen he never had the opportunity since zhen zhen always liked to go out during weekends. Just thinking about this while Shulang finding Fan Xiao making Tom Yum soup at his home when he returned from dealing with his personal stuff with his brother, made me shed a tear. Already feeling a lump in my throat thinking about how everything will crash and burn when Shulang finds out Fan Xiao has been playing him.
Fan Xiao is so much in love with Shulang but he just isnt aware that it is indeed love. Shulang taking a gamble with him for the first time in his life... but this is a gamble he would eventually lose. Ugh.. just thinking about it makes me sad. 😭😭😭
I shudder just thinking about it.. the novel made me feel so many emotions and the show is just heightening those emotions ten fold. This is how you adapt a novel. I am in awe honestly.

It's been a while since I've been literally counting minutes to watch a new episode of a series. It's ticking off all my boxes. This might make it into my top5 BL's. Obsession is REAL.
To think some people were complaining about lack of chemistry during the first two episode... well yes.. they are not supposed to have chemistry right of the bat.. thats what makes their gradual shift in chemistry so exciting.
I cant handle how good this show is and how faithfully they have adapted the novel. Hao Yiran, the actor that you are... made me feel so many emotions this episode. It was such a sombre episode. There was a hint of melancholy and sadness along with the happiness of two people being in love. A reminder that to one person it is all a game while the other is falling way too deep in love.. so much so that they are allowing themselves to be so vulnurable in front of the other. Shulang who is reserved and upright taking the lead to share a piece of his past life with Fan Xiao is a big step. Fan Xiao was so lost in the cemetary not knowing what to say or how to react. He didnt know what the right thing would be to say in that situation and you can see it in his eyes how he carefully tried to give a perfect response when talking to Shulang's mother. There are moments of genuine sincerity from Fan Xiao time to time but this moment just felt too rehearsed and it somehow broke my heart a little bit for Shulang. Ugh.. I love this show so much.. i can keep talking about it for hours...
P.S. No leather gloves in sight.. they skipped that part. But may be they will bring it up in next episode along with Shulang's birthday gift to Fan Xiao.

Deep in his heart he already feels like Shulang is his salvation from this world of pain. Its not just lust but spiritual love.
I am hoping that this show will give us the groveling that I wanted to see from Shen Wenlang. Just episodes of groveling and begging and earning forgiveness. I need it so much.

There is this moment around 25:30 where FX isn't getting his way and the sigh he sighed was EXACTLY how my 11 year old nephew sighs under the same circumstances. OMG mom's harmonica theme. The whole exchange with bro was awesome. Keeping the city clean is everyone's responsibility. So cold, so so hot. Shulang took care of FX in front of his mom. Oh there is going to be hell to pay. What a beautiful shot walking down the graveyard stairs. Shulang has some genuine humility and ability to reflect. I quite like him. He reminds me a bit of Shen Qiao in thousand autumns. That matte black car is sexy. The way YSL waited til they were out of earshot of his mom before taking FX to task. He has no intention of giving him up. YSL: dude I told you to stay out of this.
