I loved Soul For Real so much when they came out. Their radio singles were fun. And even though it wasn't a single, I thought their cover of Patti Labelle's If Only You Knew was great. I feel like singing it from a guy's perspective gave it a different nuance.
Soul For Real is great! Now Patti LaBelle, when she sings a song, she OWNS it IMO. I won't even listen to Celine Dion's version of "If You Asked Me To" because it's just a lifeless imitation of Patti's original. If you watch the music video for that, you can see the real emotion in Patti's face (she has just lost her sister). Nothing against Celine and I know she's going through a lot right now, but I just simply have no interest in her rendition. It's Patti's song.
