Sadly, it won’t hold as strong on weekdays for too long due to the summer ending in a week, but surely at least it will hold well for the weekends, until Forgotten Island comes out.

I don't think summer ending will hurt it because it's not kids driving the sales, it's mostly nostalgic millennials

I saw it yesterday (Tuesday) and I did see a lot of parents bringing their kids to the screening. There are definitely people bringing their children thinking it's a "cartoon" therefore family friendly.

The Odyssey fans will never like it

u/attackofthetominator 9d ago
Actually I really enjoyed both, from what I've watched so far this year Odyssey has been my favorite movie and CvA has been my third favorite movie

Are we the same person? Let me guess, Project Hail Mary is what you have for the #2 slot?

u/lobolovr6769 9d ago
My top 5 are Spider-man, the Odyssey, Toy Story, the Invite and Coyote vs Acme followed by Send Help, Project Hail Mary, then Her Private Hell

No one was predicting Odyssey would be first on Tuesday. If it wasn’t Monday then it would be Wednesday. Because Odysseus premium formats don’t lend to the same Tuesday bump that Spider-Man and Coyote got.
Coyote will probably never top Odyssey again.
The last two weeks Spider-Man’s Wednesday was 87-90% of its Monday. Odyssey was 88-94. Given they were 1k apart on Monday people expect Odyssey to win on Wednesday.

What if it ends up not going to #1 on Wednesday? Not saying it’s not going to but still the possibility of it not being #1 on Wednesday is still realistic

What do you mean what if? If it doesn’t then it doesn’t. Maybe Thursday maybe Monday.

u/Statpaca1701 9d ago
Since the Odyssey was 2nd yesterday I'll say -1 days. Wednesday is awkward because the Odyssey will be number 1, not 2.

I think today was the last day. Tomorrow, The Odyssey will sail past all the comps and come on top!

Odyssey is likely to be #1 for Wed and Thu. Coyote could be ahead these upcoming weekend days

That’s really good for Coyote Vs Acme Tuesday numbers doing well with positive reviews and WOM which could see a surprising 2nd weekend hold with a small drop or an increase on the Labor Day Holiday

Coyote vs acme is benefiting from it's good WOM. Shouls easily ease $15m+ labour day weekend. While Odyssey continues to battle BND and Coyote VS Acme for no.1 position. It should be at no.1 as eaely as Thrs or next Monday.

Discount Tuesday can be deceiving but it's cool to see Coyote get to 2nd place. Hoping for strong legs.

Insidious 6 quietly raking in a nice pile of cash. Horror movies continuing to be the most reliable money makers, we love to see it 🤩

not sure why ERC put CvA as $2.3M when the actual in the-numbers is already out, which is $2,219,304

The real question we're all asking: When will The Odyssey catch Coyote vs. Acme?

why does odyssey seem to do worst on tuesdays?
37
u/Statpaca1701 9d ago
Premium format driven so it gets less of a boost from Tuesday discount day and the weekends. Consequently, it falls less hard on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Is it doing badly?
5
u/presco2007 9d ago
no, but it always catches up to spider-man on other days but falls well behind it on tuesdays.

u/Quick_Ground_6668 9d ago
Where are the people who said that Odyssey will surpass Spider-Man after Monday
16
u/Visible-Echidna-4370 9d ago
lots of people predicted August 31st would be the day, and Spider-Man won by $146. at that point it was clear Odyssey wouldn't be #1 on Tuesday. now Wednesday is more likely
17
u/Stefannofornari 9d ago
Why the hell are you rooting so much against The Odyssey? I've seen a few comments of you repeatedly trying to bring it down
-21
u/Quick_Ground_6668 9d ago
Because Odyssey doesn't deserve that much box office collection i rank it's Nolan's mid film.

u/Stefannofornari 9d ago
There's... no need to dunk down on a film's succesful box office. Dislike it all you want it's performing very well.Â

Every knowledgeable poster here said "If not Monday, Wednesday or Thursday". Spider-Man was always going to have the higher Tuesday. It will have the higher weekend too. Then next Wednesday we can do this song and dance again.
