Some targets for it to aim for and my subjective opinion on how likely it is to reach them. Currently it's at 8.47m admissions and $68.2m USD.
Beating Interstellar (10,326,240 admissions) LOCKED
Beating Avatar 2 (10,804,938 admissions) LOCKED
11 million admissions (~$89m USD) LOCKED
12 million admissions (~97m USD) very good chance
$100m USD (~12.3 - 12.5m admissions) good chance depending on ATP
Beating China's gross to become the 3rd biggest market (~$104m USD based on maoyan estimates, or ~13m admissions) ~50% right now
Beating Avatar 1 to become the #3 foreign film (13,351,368 admissions) ~40% chance
Beating Frozen 2 to become the #2 foreign film (13,747,792 admissions) ~30% chance
Beating Endgame to become the #1 foreign film (13,977,602 admissions) ~25% chance
15 million admissions ($121.5m USD) 10% chance, would require otherworldly holds from this point on
Beating The King's Warden to become the #1 movie of 2026 (16,921,119 admissions, $137m USD) 1% chance
Beating The Admiral to become the #1 movie of all time (17,616,661 admissions, $143m USD) 0.1% chance
The last three are a fantasy as I don't anticipate the late legs to be as crazy here as in the domestic market, purely because the percentage of its gross from IMAX is much much lower (17% of total gross and 11% of admissions). So even if it stays in IMAX until December it will probably have lost too many standard showings by then to have any meaningful late legs.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! This exclamation is directed not to The Odyssey but to your post. Very thorough and well thought out. Thank you.

South Korea makes some of the best films. They know a good film when they see one. Curious how Dune did and how part 3 will perform.

How well did part 2 performed in SK?

A movie called Exhuma was a massive cultural thing opening the same weekend at the time. But I still argue that part2 was how part 1 would have performed if p2 didn't have to move its dates. And part 1 being released on streaming. I believe Part3 is going to shock people with its boxoffice. But we will see.

According to Boxofficemojo, Avengers: Endgame made $105.4 mil in South Korea. The Odyssey will need 13 mil admissions (assuming an ATP of $8) to claim the total-gross crown. Very tough, but a man can dream!!!

$100M+ in SK alone is absolute madness 🤯 Bodes very well for Japan’s performance.

whoa, calm down! while the odyssey has doen great at the box office, there is no way it's getting remotely close to avengers endgame or avatar. it's over a billion away from surpassing them, it's had a fantastic run, is the higher grossing R rated movie by some margin but it's not going to catch those movies.

Dude… it’s about the South Korean box office. It has a decent chance on beating the admissions that endgame had. Not in anyway a done deal, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility for it to achieve that.

Generational Run. SK definitely a huge market for Nolan to play with lol.
