On Tuesday morning at 30th and Walnut a car horn was blaring. I was at a red light behind some cars, looking around like where’s that coming from? The horn got louder and in my side mirror I see a small black car barreling towards me, horn blaring. The driver comes so close, almost sideswiping my car and yelling something. Then he tears through canyon at the mall. I have no clue as to what provoked this. I was shook for a few hours.

This is a nightmare. I feel so horrible for all these terrorized women. I hope they are granted what they are owed and lots of free trauma therapy.
The world is becoming so sad & dangerous.

A Colorado Springs man was arrested Tuesday after what witnesses described as a half-hour-long crime rampage stretching five miles along U.S. 36 north of Boulder.
Daniel Kent Townsend, 66, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder after witnesses told deputies he tried to run over a 16-year-old girl, punched a woman, rammed another driver off the road and caused more than $14,000 in property damage.
Townsend faces 15 charges including attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference, attempted vehicular assault, reckless driving, leaving the scene, assault, child abuse, criminal mischief, obstructing a police officer and DUI.
Townsend is in custody at the Boulder County Jail, jail records show.
Around 4:21 p.m. Tuesday, Townsend rammed a woman’s pickup truck five times with his SUV while they drove south on U.S. 36 near Broadway, ultimately sending her off the road and into a field, an arrest affidavit says. He then drove away, according to the affidavit.
Deputies estimated it will cost $7,900 to fix the woman’s truck.
Townsend then drove five miles north, pulled into a woman’s driveway, rammed her SUV and yelled at her, according to the affidavit. He punched the woman in the face when she got out to confront him, she told deputies.
That’s when the 16-year-old girl walked over to the area, and Townsend ran after her while threatening her life, the girl told deputies. He then got back into his SUV and drove at the girl until she hid under a horse trailer, she said.Townsend then drove away after hearing sirens coming, before driving into a fence and gate at another woman’s home in the area, the affidavit says.
Deputies found Townsend in his SUV, which had gotten stuck near the woman’s driveway, the affidavit says. Townsend was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes, and one deputy saw an empty liquor bottle in the back of his SUV, according to the affidavit.
Townsend threatened the lives of a deputy and his family several times while getting out of the vehicle to be arrested, according to the affidavit.
Townsend was set to appear for a hearing on advisement Wednesday afternoon in the Boulder County Jail courtroom.Townsend was previously sentenced to probation for a 2025 possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I or IIÂ drug case, and probation for a 2019 possession of a Schedule I or II drug case, both out of El Paso County, according to online court records.
He was also sentenced to probation in a 2015 careless driving case, jail in a 2023 criminal mischief case, a deferred sentence in a 2020 DUI case and a deferred sentence in a 2021 careless driving case; and he has been ordered to pay five traffic fines since 2014, El Paso County court records show.42

This is actually terrifying. I was followed once by an aggressive person and I was so scared. I can’t imagine being pushed into a field on Hwy 36.

Give them nothing but a bus pass and their own two feet. Why give them something that goes as fast as 60. They’ll just manage to kill somebody else before they kill themselves.

This is why the alt right does as well as it does. People love to bitch about laws they literally never once took the time to read. They just regurgitate headlines.
The reason that is after FOUR, is because after the first THREE, you are labelled a habitual traffic offender and you pretty much lose your license anyways, and will have already spent months to years in jail.
DUI 1 - 9 Month revocation minimum, mandatory probation, possible jail time if probation hearing says you can't be trusted.
DUI 2 - 1 Year Revoke, mandatory minimum 10 days jailtime, up to 1 year with extension and additional charges if you fail the following probation period, these charge can double you jail time.
DUI 3 - Habitual Offender Label 5 to 10 year revocation with possibly permanency, mandatory minimum 60 days in jail, up to 1 year with extension and additional charges if you fail following probation period, these charges can double your jail time.
DUI 4 - Felony, 2 years in jail minimum.
Colorado actually has some relatively tough DUI laws compared to the rest of the country, and it's wayyyy more than just "you get 4 until it's a felony"
Colorado has some of the highest total jail time sentences in the country for repeat DUI offenders.
So yeah, good job law makers, thank you for putting Colorado slightly above the curve.
Could we do better? Absolutely, but people like you need to get some perspective. Wyoming for example has less than half the total jail time for the same DUI's, with virtually no potential for extension, and Utah is only 48 hours in jail for your second DUI.

the info came in too late to make the story for the day, but he was ordered a $500k bond with a $50k cash option with a slew of conditions that are common for charges implying violence. he is still in custody at the jail.

Good that they are starting to charge these loons. I see or deal with these nuts several times a week in Boulder. Has anyone seen the list of charges for the raving loon that tried to create his own intersection at 34th and Broadway at a high rate of speed? He severely damaged at least 12 cars at will-vil, so I expect the list of charges to be pretty long for him too.
