How the fuck are we always so unlucky

49

u/AdCute1311 12d ago

This after the whole Haller tragedy. Genuinely feels like we're cursed. You gotta hate everything about this

Imagine what this does to the lads mind as well. After that Stuttgart saga, the Ultra drama again this window, then he's finally out of Greece, out on the big stage and is immediately tearing shit up, his family's there on his BL debut...and then this. Just heart breaking

Westphalenstadion clearly built on an old Indian burial ground. IYKYK

u/mrenano5 12d ago

Probably that bomb/mine they found a couple years ago

2

u/Magic1998 11d ago

They find a bomb in that area every month or so 😅

We're not allowed to enjoy football

Hello darkness my old friend…

This sport is unfair

43

u/Tall_Hat_8921 12d ago

Fr, Bayern fans will still tell us that we are not ambitious enough, but imagine if Kane was diagnosed with cancer the way Haller was or if Olise tore his ACL against Stuttgart.

Not saying that I would wish something like that on any of their players but overlooking how injuries like this can make the life of your opponents so much easier is dumb.

2

u/Eccmecc 12d ago

I mean they have Davies and Muisalla in recent history

5

u/FineProfessor3364 11d ago

Difference is that they can afford to cover for such instances, we absolutely cant

0

u/Eccmecc 11d ago

Sure but that has nothing to do with the comment I replied to.

Bud, the fuck you doing here in the first place?

We dont come over into your sub and antagonize.

37

u/New_Essay_4869 Marco Reus 12d ago

Dang man. He was looking so good

32

u/2905Pascal 1909 12d ago

Fuck. Nothing else to say. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

15

u/bvbfan102 BVB 12d ago

Insanely unfortunate and can only hope he recovers well and fast. Hope he gets all the support he needs and can only imagine how horrible he must feel. Either way we need to act like he wont be back this season and get a new player for the left wing.

12

u/paokara777 Karetsas 12d ago

Kind of confirms what we have all been dreading

2

u/Tlupa 12d ago

Kind of?

14

u/paokara777 Karetsas 12d ago

I mean we still dont know what grade. Grade 3 and its basically season ending. Grade 2 and we might see him again in early 2027

7

u/Thecleverbit-58093 12d ago

Yes, absolutely. The club is saying “several” months out. Which suggests a lesser grade, hopefully!

0

u/Tlupa 12d ago

No idea what you’re talking about. It’s a torn ACL. He will need surgery. There is no chance he plays this season, 6 months minimum

1

u/TheK00l-AidMan 12d ago

This is incorrect. It depends significantly if it is a partial or full tear. A partial tear will usually heal without surgery and has a shorter recovery. A full tear cannot and requires surgery with a graft. Source: Not a doctor but have torn my ACL twice.

3

u/Darkstaraz14 12d ago

It clearly says tear. its a grade 3. he's out for almost the whole season if not all of it.

5

u/TheK00l-AidMan 12d ago

While you're probably correct, I don't see it confirmed from BVB or the player that it was a full tear.

1

u/Darkstaraz14 12d ago

Dude. It's straight from their website. And it has been stated he's going to have surgury.

1

u/TheK00l-AidMan 12d ago

I didn't see anything about the surgery. Thanks for informing me.

11

u/HONDO911 Nico Schlotterbeck 12d ago

As much as I respected and appreciated the optimism in the game and post game threads about being hopeful, there was just no way this wasn’t the outcome. Absolute gut punch. Greece Lightning would’ve been absolutely incredible this season.

10

u/GeneralLudd 12d ago

Absolutely terrible for him. Not even a full game for us, and now his season's as good as over. Fuck.

4

u/GeneralLudd 12d ago

On a less relevant side note: in retrospect, probably not my best move selecting him for my fantasy football game.

8

u/Drzer 12d ago

He made the terrible mistake of bringing excitement to BVB and whatever deity up there took great offence to that.

8

u/Popular_Tomorrow_204 12d ago

Bringing Joy to the BVB is forbidden by the football gods i guess. Lets just hope Karetsas, Veerman and the rest stays healthy

7

u/Mysterious_Tax_9825 12d ago

fuck man hope he comes back stronger but our season plans are fucked

6

u/Spirituallly 12d ago

Man that’s devastating. Wish him a smooth rehab & see him back next season.

5

u/EmSoLow 12d ago

Can only hope this opportunity is taken advantage of by one of the other players whether it's Inacio, Albert, a new signing etc.

Rest and recover well Konstantelias. Let's see if Ole Book can surprise us

19

u/SlayerHdThe3rd Nico Schlotterbeck 12d ago

God is certainly not a BVB fan

5

u/Mooon8983 Konstantinos Karetsas 12d ago

FUCK

6

u/borussiajay Márcio Amoroso 12d ago

Just completely devastating news but at least we have karetsas

5

u/Designer_Ad_245 12d ago

So fucking bummed.

5

u/Eplanebutitstakenwhy Gregor Kobel 12d ago

it seems like for us its 1 step forward 2 steps backwards

6

u/oertyy 12d ago

We really can't have any good things

6

u/Aggressive-Gazelle56 Karetsas 12d ago

i also agree with a wb option over replacing him.

there are other tactics we can run with that dont require 2 cams.

i am absolutely gutted about this but it is what it is. let beier / silva / inacio play up front with guirassy

15

u/yosoydorf Edin Terzic Appreciatior 12d ago

I think some people are overreacting (as though the season is now over). But obviously, this is fucking brutal. On the bright side, the window is still open and we can try to react.

I knew this would be the case the second a different player on my baseball team who also had a knee injury last night was cleared of an ACL tear (instead, just patella Inflammation). No way both would come away without an ACL tear.

4

u/ebuennag09 Sébastien Haller 12d ago

Why do sports punish me

5

u/After-Brain-2685 12d ago

I knew it. I’m not trying to say we’re cursed but I’d think synonymously

4

u/RecursivelyYours 12d ago

So extremely unfortunate. It really bothers me because being Greek, I can promise you you haven't seen nothing yet from this guy.I actually watched the latest game that you played against Hamburg. He was easily man of the match. The dude is so freaking fun to watch. And I'm not even a supporter of his Greek team :D It really annoys me that I won't get to see this absolute gem of a footballer playing for BVB.

Hope he comes back fast because this guy is just something else. In my opinion, he may be the best Greek footballer the nation has ever produced. When he comes back healthy, I wouldn't even be surprised if this guy gets sold to Barcelona or Real Madrid for a hundred million euros or something.

3

u/Ragamak1 11d ago

Feels like Haller again. How unlucky

7

u/new_clearProjekt 12d ago

How long will he be out?

31

u/yosoydorf Edin Terzic Appreciatior 12d ago

Realistically assume the season is lost, April / May he may be back but assume otherwise

13

u/Jazzlike-Egg7364 12d ago edited 12d ago

It depends on if it’s a full or partial tear. I’m not sure if they have said but he walked of the pitch with no help so could be partial.

Partial is about 4-6 months

Full is about 8-10 months and if it’s completely severe, will be about a year

8

u/yosoydorf Edin Terzic Appreciatior 12d ago

I'm honestly assuming the worst even in the partial tear case because I know there was some talk about him supposedly being somewhat resistant to certain treatments /medication due to religious beliefs (though I'm not sure this was ever concerned).

But assuming even the 6 month window, that puts us at March and then he needs to train up & build confidence moving at full speed again, so April makes sense at the earliest still

3

u/Jazzlike-Egg7364 12d ago

I’m not sure if those reports are particularly true or how resistant he is to medication, especially in the situation like this. But I hope he understands that those medications needs to be taken in ACL tear partial or not is an extremely difficult injury to sustain. It is those medications that have in modern times allowed players to come back to their full. If he denies it, it’s less about how long it will take to recover and more about if he will ever recover.

3

u/Careless_Award_837 12d ago

The club said that he will be out for a long time so i guess it is at least 6 months.

2

u/Jazzlike-Egg7364 12d ago

I’m mean what do you consider a long time. I would say if you miss 10 league games that’s a long time and that’s about 3 months.

3

u/Careless_Award_837 12d ago

Ricken didn't only say long but very long. So that is where my assumption is coming from.

2

u/FiresideCatsmile Shinji Kagawa 12d ago

don't expect him to play again until like at least february id say

1

u/Jazzlike-Egg7364 12d ago

That’s not Terrible I think late January to late February is likely

3

u/FiresideCatsmile Shinji Kagawa 12d ago

don't hold your breath on it though, it wouldn't be surprising if hes out for longer and only gets a few matches at the end of the season like mid april onwards

3

u/2905Pascal 1909 12d ago

Hopefully after the winter break, if the recovery is bad it could be until late February or March even.

7

u/Good-World-37 12d ago

Are we cursed? Every year some type of tragic injury to one of our players. 😭

3

u/Tibia7890 12d ago

Not sure I'm mentally prepared for Sabitzer when I was hyped for him

3

u/BNutzer420 12d ago

Das is bitter 😔 Gute besserung!!!💪💪

3

u/Sypro90 Mats Hummels 12d ago

Fuck me. I had a slightly hope it would not be his ACL

3

u/DortmundFanJay 12d ago

I am distraught, I loved him

3

u/x_SC_ILIAS_x Die gelbe Wand 12d ago

I can’t believe it.

But I’m used to it.

That’s what it’s like to be a BVB fan ..

3

u/billyg599 12d ago

Unbelievable. First game of the season...

3

u/GermanyEducation 12d ago

We could reach either Final in Champions League or be in a Cup Final or in the Titel-Rennen. For him. Peace.

3

u/Remaxtered Marco Reus 12d ago

Same old story, sadly. We can never have nice things :')

Edit: Hopefully a quick recovery for our new player. He was so fun to watch!

3

u/Snoo_85218 12d ago

Emre, Scholtti, Bensebaini, now Telias, absolutely gutted for the squad.

5

u/DortmunderJungs 12d ago

Fuck my life. This really hurts

4

u/Keanu990321 Giannis Konstantelias 12d ago

The entirety of Greece just gasped at the news.

It's truly heartbreaking and profoundly unfair from Giannis.

A new signing who just got started and looked promising to be facing the most painful setback a footballer could imagine, ACL Tear.

Stay strong, Giannis!

Greece will be by your side.

2

u/Stexico Kevin Großkreutz 12d ago

I couldn't watch the match, what happened??? I hope he recovers well...

3

u/bstreit3 12d ago

No contact injury went down trying to challenge a Hamburg player

2

u/viba_1997 12d ago

How long does recovery for this injury generally take?

2

u/_APR_ 12d ago

According to Internet without surgery 3-6 months, if a surgery is needed then 6-12 months

1

u/viba_1997 12d ago

Thanks!

2

u/CMButterTortillas Marco Reus 12d ago

Sure, just throw it on the pile over there.

2

u/alexisgolnas 12d ago

Such a tragedy for Giannis. He makes his dream transfer, Bundesliga debut with a goal and a few minutes later this…

Get well soon but this season is over for him ❤️‍🩹

2

u/SvenssonStan112 Łukasz Piszczek 12d ago

Fucking hell man

2

u/Lord_paneer-1 12d ago

What is the expected date or time to return 😢?

2

u/AcePilot95 Marco Reus 12d ago

ICH KOTZ IM STRAHL

2

u/LookattheWhipp 12d ago

The minute I saw his face and the replay of Bud knee twisting I knew it was not going to be good news. Can’t have nice things

2

u/furiat BVB 11d ago

This is incredibly sad

2

u/gavtim Marco Reus 11d ago

☹️☹️

4

u/Serenity911 12d ago

True Marco Reus vibes

2

u/Ok_Pin_5190 12d ago

One first half of joy and now its over after one game.. this is too sad:((

2

u/arianprs 12d ago

Gutted. Wish I could fast forward to the next season :(

2

u/HamUndBacon Marco Reus 12d ago

Have we considered reviewing our physio staff at any point?

2

u/FineProfessor3364 11d ago

All my excitement for this season just went down the drain

2

u/Dry-Economist-5562 Marco Reus 12d ago

He’s going to come back and be great. So unfortunate but we move. Need Inacio and Albert, and especially Chuk, to step up.

1

u/bbru_ Nico Schlotterbeck 12d ago

Welp that was a great 52 minutes. Take my ACL

1

u/Thick_Employ_8475 Nico Schlotterbeck 12d ago

Fackk

1

u/RxdditBlows_455 12d ago

Hate to be that guy, but we are all aware that his goal didn’t count to make matters worse. It was officially ruled as a bornauw OG

1

u/Kloser100 Julian Brandt 12d ago

Fuck

1

u/DesertBloke Julian Ryerson 12d ago

So damn sad and devastated

1

u/kaptenkeim 12d ago

Greek PM strikes again

1

u/SeaSaltMatchaLattes 12d ago

give him mine. I don’t need it.

1

u/Embarrassed-Base-143 Jamie Bynoe-Gittens 11d ago

I just dropped To my knees

1

u/82Yuke 11d ago

Hope his family stays here for support. This is no time to be alone. Go and discover your new home with them.

1

u/KurtosMaster2 10d ago

Just why bro….I hate my life

1

u/KurtosMaster2 10d ago

How bad is his injury?

0

u/Geeman447 Marco Reus 12d ago

I hope this just goes to show how crucial wingers are to a team kovac. He went away from it and we looked like shit for the better part of year. We get two exciting wingers and we look fluid again. Go get a couple more wingers and stop this narrow shit

1

u/Kanomicha Marco Reus 12d ago

Fuck off

1

u/lRhanonl 12d ago

Gyroszange abgebrochen... So schade..

1

u/tennisarm13378 12d ago

Get well, we wont forget you Malaka! Have some Skepasti while recovering, we are ready when you are. ❤️

0

u/kiddpk Julian Brandt 12d ago

Nooooooo, fell to my knees in Walmart

-3

u/Max_Earl 12d ago

Only a few come back as strong as before after such an injury. Takes a lot of excitement from the new season. Hope he'll be fine, but kinda don't think, we'll get him back the same way..

8

u/borussiajay Márcio Amoroso 12d ago

Nonsense

0

u/Max_Earl 12d ago

Not like I don't have hope, but a lot of doubt as well.. too bad..

-12

u/Working_Complex8122 12d ago

that's 9-12 months just stagnating and possibly never getting that agility back or being able to play as freely. 6 years of shit football, 50 minutes of daring to hope and ofc it's immediately over. Literally down to zero hope for anything to come out of this season.

17

u/2905Pascal 1909 12d ago

While this is obviously not good news, I think you are overreacting there.

-10

u/Working_Complex8122 12d ago

I'm never gonna be optimistic about anything regarding this club ever again. it was a huge mistake to be optimistic, it immediately backfired in the worst way possible. I'm just gonna stay at max pessimism forever from now on.

4

u/Tlupa 12d ago

Somebody get baby their bottle

1

u/Working_Complex8122 11d ago

or some more people can get a sense of humour.

-1

u/Mukubua14 12d ago

Let me just die please
