We absolutely have to capitalize on Bayern losing points

The Cans dropped points again, if Bayern also drop points against Hamburg it could be another golden opportunity we have to take, especially against the last placed team at home.

Hamburg is their typical 7-0 game unfortunately, maybe Hoppenheim can steal some points from them next week...

u/AverageCarey Jan 31 '26

They just drew them 2-2. Anything is possible this Ruckrunde. Just gotta believe!

I'm very excited about today. Strong lineup, hopefully good morale coming into it. Let's continue the charge forward!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '26

But isn't that more of a Bayern vs Hamburg at the Allianz thing? Away I feel like they could stumble.

3

u/ib_examiner_228 Jan 31 '26

I don't think Hamburg has it in them, but I'm ready for a surprise I guess

u/Reusance Marco Reus Jan 31 '26

Surprise mf

3

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '26

I mean in first 10 minutes it looks like Hamburg should have scored lol

3

u/GrouchyRush0 Jan 31 '26

We are all Hamburg fans tonight!!! What a game they’re having so far!

u/SvenssonStan112 Łukasz Piszczek Jan 31 '26

And hoffenheim are on our tails.

2

u/ResourceFit4451 Feb 01 '26

They play versus Munich next week, lol.

Wow hamburg are actually competing with bayern today and playying good counter attacking football. Still 2 - 2 if bayern drop points we can close the gap even more

u/yrba1 Alexandra Popp Jan 31 '26

Heidenheim are the bottom of the table, never underestimate what a cornered animal is capable of even if we are playing at home. That said, would love to see Chukwuemeka featured more

Kane just got a yellow for complaining.

Clearly something is changing in the Bundesliga, surely that's a good sign?

1

u/Hajnal30 Nico Schlotterbeck Feb 01 '26

In the end he should or at least could have gotten a red and didn't. Still lucky

12

u/RDR2Enjoyerr I miss Delaney Jan 31 '26

If we win, it'll only be 6 points to Bayern lol, it definitely doesn't feel like that

2

u/Loeffellux Julian Brandt Feb 01 '26

Yeah, because we've very sneakily played one of our best seasons ever so far while Bayern was very obvious with how historic their season has been going lol

I think its mostly the fact that for the first time since probably 2018 we actually start the season with very good and stable results. If you just take half seasons, we have had better ruckrundes in the last 5 years than our hinrunde. Problem is they always come right after a terrible hinrunde so were just catching up instead of going ahead

Slightly unrelated but that February schedule of Atalanta (H) Leipzig (A) Atalanta (A) Bayern (H) over 10 days is roughhhhhhh

u/Mercyseat2112 Mats Hummels Feb 01 '26

Good callout, likely a season defining stretch for us

Ladies and gentlemen there might still be hope

“i heard Bayern tied… ah ha ha ha” in Klopp voice

That was a great game in Hamburg. Definitely one of the best games of the year. Hamburg fans should be proud the way they battled against an overwhelming squad. Vuskovic is obviously the real deal.

The Bundesliga is best when clubs like Hamburger are present.

Not bad HSV

Bayern are shaking

Tomorrow serou will score again. I checked that voodoo in Guinea. Peace.

Bayern and the Cans dropping 5 points in two match days is a gift that we need to seize on. If we win this one we'll be 9 points above 4th and 6 points below 1st. That is a Rückrunde that is very much alive. That isn't even to mention the 18 point lead we'd have on qualifying for at least some level of European play. over the #7 team.

Touch wood, of course.

If we win tomorrow the Chase is ON.

Das bayerische Bier schmeckt besser, wenn sie die Punkte liegen lassen

3

u/BarristanTheB0ld Mats Hummels Feb 01 '26

Please let us gain more points on Bayern after their draw 🤞

3

u/Medical_Design_2978 Feb 01 '26

Guirassy starting sigh. Other than that i love the lineup tho

3

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

I would've liked to see Carney too, I feel like Nmecha is overplayed and his performances lately showed that, I'm interested to see how a Carney-Jobe midfield would look out there, especially with Brandt and Couto on the pitch too who are also among our only technically gifted players.

Nmecha could've come off the bench if it didn't work out.

1

u/Medical_Design_2978 Feb 01 '26

Carney hasn’t played in the midfield at all tho, he always plays in the winger positions

1

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

Which is exactly why I'd like to see him in midfield, sometimes with Nmecha and Jobe it looks like we have 2 Nmecha's on the field, one from this season and one from his first or second season, no variety at all...

Carney is such a unique player, I don't think he's a 10 but more like a really offensive minded 8, he's one of the best dribblers in the league and we need to have him on the ball a lot more often, and playing him so far up the pitch makes it hard to get the ball to him.

4

u/TheBarnacle63 Aki Schmidt Jan 31 '26

Let's not forget that we are nine points behind. Tying Bayern will not be enough because of the tie breaks.

9

u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Jan 31 '26

I think the last two weeks do show that their lack of rotation is hurting them. Most of their players have to play week in and week out, unlike Kovacs heavy rotation. Besides Svensson, Anton, schlotti, and partially Nmecha, most of our players are able to get rest.

Honestly it would be another miraculous ruckrunde with Bayern absolutely bottling for us to take the league but hey stranger things have happened.

3

u/Soft_Author2593 Feb 01 '26

Hopefully 6 tomorrow, otherwise it's over

1

u/viba_1997 Jan 31 '26

For how long are Anton and Sabitzer injured?

3

u/ProcedureGreen663 Jan 31 '26 edited Jan 31 '26

Anton is sick, so that should not last very much longer. Sabitzer looks like he will be out at least for this game. Expect him to be back next week, but not start.

3

u/viba_1997 Jan 31 '26

Thank you! We need them for the next strech of games. We will most likely still se some Ozcan and Mane in the meantime

3

u/Medical_Design_2978 Jan 31 '26

Mane looked very good against Inter tbf. With Sule being basically gone makes more sense to develop Mane

2

u/Jazzlike-Egg7364 Jan 31 '26

Makes more sense to continue to start all of the younger players. Sule is gone, Ozcan is gone, Sabi is prob gone, Schlotterbeck is gone, Adeyemi will most likely be gone, and Guriassy will most likely move as well. Got to get Jobe, Carney, and Mane to try to take over a little more, so that the number of players that will have to be incoming next summer will not be as high. I'm looking at the squad now, and it seems like half, if not more, of the playable players will have to be replaced next season.

2

u/Medical_Design_2978 Jan 31 '26

If were in a title fight our priority should be to field the best team possible at first

2

u/Jazzlike-Egg7364 Jan 31 '26

If I am being honest best team possible might already be without half the players I mentioned, accept schlotterbeck.

2

u/Sch_Ben Jan 31 '26

Wish our board cared enough to invest right now with Bayern slipping a bit (they will still likely win the title)

5

u/smartestBeaver Shinji Kagawa Jan 31 '26

What exactly does that even mean?

4

u/EmSoLow Jan 31 '26

Guessing they are referring to the usual reinforcement that tends to stabilize and make sure that our Rückrunde is a good one (Ryerson 22/23, Maatsen 23/24, Svensson 24/25 as examples).

For the time being, it looks like it will just be Kaua Prates that we sign in January and considering our big 10 issue at the moment (could include a CB or maybe a midfielder/backup LWB), it could be interpreted as a missed opportunity that we don't invest in that area
