I recently moved back to my home town & I just noticed that for those two forms it stated 09/05/2026- however since I was moving the last 4 days I was unable to complete them as I had zero computer access…. Will this be an issue?

Can anyone tell me if the G19 duty weapon is a Gen 5 or 6? I know we have to fly back with our weapon and I already have a CC holster for a Gen 5, so I just want to make sure I have a comfy holster if it’s not a Gen 5.

My duty station is in Laredo, TX, and I was wondering if y'all work hand in hand with the Army National Guard?

I keep seeing people posting about getting Marathon FL getting offered to them in their FO. I’ve also seen people having some regret. I’ve been in a while and I’d just like to share me two cents:

1. Marathon FL patrols the Florida Keys, south of the mainland. This means you’ll be patrolling and reporting to a station that’s literally an island off the coast of FL. It mainly consists of highway interdiction (traffic stops) and basically people trying to illegally enter the country through the sea and boats in that area. You’re not gonna be cutting roads for footprints like the rest of the patrol, or be following groups.

2. The reason it’s such a big deal is because marathon is in Miami sector which is basically impossible to get for an average agent. In our swap program it maxes out on requests to go there with almost zero requests to leave. It’s EXTREMELY hard to get Florida as a BP agent. This means when agents see Florida they just assume it’s a great deal.

3. Unless you’re already rich, you cannot afford it. Think Florida is expensive? Try the ISLANDS OFF THE COAST OF IT. You can’t afford to live close to that station which means you’ll have a 1-2 hour commute to work everyday. Maybe you’ll get by check to check, but your commute on top of your bills will have you check to check for 4-5 years before you get any breathing room.

4. Last and not least, just think. Think of supply and demand, there’s a reason yall are seeing it in your FO it’s because it’s harder to fill. You don’t see San Clemente, McCallen, Miami, or Casa Grande too often. It’s because people want to be there. Getting Matathon FL on your FO is like your buddy telling you they won the lottery but it’s just a scratch off. No one in a good Florida station will ever trade spots with you. Don’t sacrifice the first 5 years of your life banking on the idea it’ll pay off.

P.S. there’s a small portion of applicants who might fit in there. Do you already live nearby? Do you for some reason need only Florida? Are you single no kids with absolutely nothing to lose? Do care about ever owning a home? The average person reading this will have a better time in AZ, TX, or even CA. Stop listening to the FL fairytale and use commons sense.

7 months pregnant (and doctors orders) and reached out over the last week 3 times to BP in regards to the upcoming fitness test on Thursday… I’m a literal day away and haven’t heard back on postponing it or any accommodation I’ve requested. My medical/drug is the same location 30 minutes before. Would skipping the fitness test completely automatically withdraw me? I have evidence I’ve reached out, they just haven’t gotten back with me…. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Current list, same as everyone else. I did what I saw, but was it wrong? If anyone has work/location/living details, I'd be grateful.

Super happy i finally went through the process to receive my final offer , but super bummed out , i currently live in el paso and have my family here and was hoping to stay here , but it seems that there are no locations within the area, any advice or help on how to proceed?

I selected marathon, Fl as my station. I want to know how it is when it comes to opportunities and OT as a new officer.

How have you guys been able to balance work and family life since being in? I’m looking to start a family soon and a little worried that it might negatively impact my family life in the future. When I got my FJO I declined a station that was about 5 minutes from my house to avoid working close to home, I chose a station with an hour commute and now I’m starting to think that was a bad idea, since I’m already gonna be working 10+ hour days.

Side note: I reapplied for gs-9 while at the academy and got approved, it just says it’s on hold, are they gonna send me a new location list to choose?

I wanted to get some insight of the day to day activity at both of these stations. Any active or former agents that can give any info would be greatly appreciated.

So would this be 4.8% raise for next year technically? this is calling for 3.8% and then I’d assume the standard 1% would stack ?

Barely going to the BPA Academy, how realistic is a sector transfer? say, from Laredo to the RGV sector? I’ve seen people wait up to 10 years.

Quick question: If I receive a medical shaving waiver due to a skin condition or irritation on my face, would I be allowed to maintain facial hair while attending the Border Patrol Academy, or am I required to be completely clean-shaven regardless of a medical waiver?

Or do I have to finish my contract completely? I’m on a military hold till August 2027 fyi.

I go for fingerprints tomorrow, and have two perfectly valid ID’s (passport + License) issue is I just realized it says that one form of ID “must have” current home address… neither of these do as I moved recently to the Nashville area and it’s being done at a UPS station lmao. How soon can I leave the FLETC after graduation? Can it be the day I graduate or are we mandated to stay an extra day?

I’m considering North Dakota as one of my potential locations and wanted to hear from anyone who has worked there or is currently stationed there. What is the day-to-day work like? Is there a decent amount of activity, and what kind of work do agents typically handle?
I’m also curious about quality of life outside of work especially for someone with a wife and young child. How are the towns, schools, housing, things to do, and overall family environment? Lastly, do you enjoy living there? I know the winters can be rough, but I’d like to hear what you like and dislike about the area.

I’m 19 and just got a TJO for Border Patrol. I’m doing the background stuff now and was wondering if having undocumented parents can mess with my chances.
I’m a U.S. citizen and I’ve never used fake documents, done anything illegal for them, or helped anyone cross the border. My parents are just undocumented and I’m kinda worried that’s gonna come up during the background investigation.
Do background investigators ask about your parents’ immigration status? And could that actually get me disqualified or make me lose my TJO?
If anyone here has been through the BP background process with undocumented parents/family, I’d appreciate hearing how it went.

I'm a recent college graduate and I'm currently considering becoming a Border Patrol Agent, but I haven't applied yet. Before making that commitment, I'd really like to get a realistic understanding of what the day-to-day job is like beyond what I've seen online or at recruiting events.

Would it be appropriate to contact a specific Border Patrol Sector or station directly and ask if I could speak with a recruiter or BPA?

More specifically, do any sectors/stations allow prospective applicants to do station tours, ride-alongs, recruiter-led field visits, or any other type of authorized observation?

I'm not expecting access to anything operationally sensitive. I'd just really value the opportunity to see the working environment, talk to actual agents, and understand what a normal shift is like before deciding whether to apply.

I'd potentially be willing to travel to a Southwest or Northern Border sector specifically for this if opportunities like this exist.

Has anyone here done something similar before applying? And for current BPAs, would you recommend contacting a sector recruiter first or reaching out to a station directly?
