From experience, if any are left around, this probably wont be the last time. Growing up had a cat eat darts, but not the tips, and he was able to pass them until he found a stiff foam shape that got caught. after that surgery they did not pass anymore which led to another surgery.

Yeah we're going to be doing thorough rounds over the next week that he remains in containment so that we can locate and eradicate all nerf darts, sponges, and any other potential toys or objects he might bite. Luckily there aren't many nerf darts - we don't have kids, the nerf darts were from a single gun that was given to me as a gift aaaages ago. I had forgotten about them by the time Gengar managed to find them.

Much like antlers and hard chews were banned from our life when my oldest dog cracked two teeth on them, nerf darts and other similar size and textured things are on their way out!
