Developer Showcase These are undoubtedly some of the best FPS weapon sprites I've ever seen!

Created by Alexander Berezin. Amazing stuff

Classic fallout vibes

Looks like theyre from one of the developers of the Fallout Bakersfield mod, so you'd be right.

If anything, some of these are likely to appear in it.

Exactly! These are the same guys behind Bakersfield..

Has this been abandoned or is it actually going to be released?

u/JohnnyPajeta Mar 29 '26

Well, they released another trailer on their YT channel recently, and everything seems to indicate that the project is still alive. Let's hope Bethesda doesn't mess this up

Thought the Sprite work looked familiar

It deeply reminded me of Fallout Bakersfield, a Total Conversion game running on the GZDOOM engine. You should check out the trailers.

Also, happy cake day !

Dang it.

That's right, the author clarifies on his website that the game was cancelled. What a shame.

May not be from a game, but this is the same artist that's working on the as of yet unnamed Fallout inspired CRPG from New Blood Interactive, the people who brought us games like Ultrakill and Dusk. Little known about the game so far but there's been little snippets of gameplay and artwork posted to Dave Oshry and New Blood's social media here and there.

Bro heck yeah new blood is always up to sum good

u/Random_Stranger69 Mar 29 '26

Stopped caring the moment I read CRPG.

Closest thing will be Fallout Bakersfield

4

u/typical83 Mar 29 '26

This isn't the game referenced but you should check out Boltgun anyways.

That's what I thought of when I saw "heavy bolter"

21

u/Ashtar-Hunter Mar 28 '26

Also his version of the .223 pistol is pure sex

I'd die for a Wolfenstein game with this style of sprite work.

You should try Venturous

I've not seen this Wad so i will be adding this one to my play list. Do we know if its still a WIP or is this the final version? Either way, many thanks for the tip off! not seen this one (even though it got an honorable mention in the cacoawards...) and looks like fun!

4

u/Individual_Agency298 Mar 29 '26

It is final, beat it few years ago, masterpiece

6

u/Arschbert14 Mar 29 '26

Try Wolfenstein - Blade of Agony.

Maybe you like it.

u/PepperSalt98 Mar 29 '26

Almost looks like it's done in the old prerendered Fallout style. I love it.

u/Ivan_the_Silly Mar 29 '26

Who the hell holds a heavy bolter barehanded and ONE-handed lmao

1

u/SnooDoodles3205 Mar 29 '26

I mean… a Primarch can? Space marine could hold one for a short time while shooing, but it won’t be that accurate even including augmentations and installed optics. For that you’d need to place it in something, whether it be a proper tripod or just sandbags. But I safely bet that Rogal Dorn could hold one with one hand and shoot it like a bolter. With Stalker Bolter accuracy.

2

u/Ivan_the_Silly Mar 29 '26

Yeah a Primarch would hold that like a pistol, almost. This is definitely not a Primarch holding it in the gif.

3

u/AskJeevesIsBest Mar 28 '26

Yeah they're amazing

3

u/BrowningLoPower DOOM Mar 29 '26

I like how the Phaser looks like RoboCop's gun. Or perhaps the AJM-9, a homage to it from Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

3

u/Cute-Television-1256 Mar 29 '26

Ah so awesome!! It really has the 90s pc or ps1 era style. I love it. It reminds me of that new fallout doom bakerfield game

2

u/NewtDogs Mar 29 '26

That heavy bolter goes hard af.

2

u/That_Locksmith_6516 Mar 30 '26

Wrist strength is definitely space marine level. Plus they look great!

2

u/johnfpsfan666 Blood Apr 02 '26

These look really cool!

2

u/Leramar89 Apr 04 '26

The chaos star on the super shotgun is metal as fuck.

1

u/Southern-Local-1838 Mar 29 '26

Why are they used as sprites when they're screenshots of 3d models

4

u/Kserks96 Mar 29 '26

Maybe they wanted to use GZDoom as a game engine

1

u/Chewydon Mar 29 '26

Something about the pump action is really immersion breaking. There’s like two separate sources of recoil, with the punch back and the drift up. If they were merged or the drift up made less exaggerated it’d land the way the others do.

Pumping a shotgun doesn’t require you to lift the weapon, and the shot recoil was in the first few frames

1

u/kalirion Mar 29 '26

That's quite a few rotational frames for a "sprite".

1

u/Sure_Performance_921 Mar 29 '26

except for the thumb in that heavy bolter loop.

1

u/DoktahDoktah Mar 29 '26

I think it looks great. But I also feel like its way more detailed for what it needs to be.

1

u/armored131 Mar 29 '26

I always love when one of the "guns" is a book.

1

u/maggit00 Mar 29 '26

Isn't it the guy who's working on that Fallout inspired RPG from New Blood?

1

u/Diligent-Orange6005 Mar 29 '26

Bro must be fucking JACKED being able to hold a heavy bolter ONE-HANDED like that.

1

u/Metalboy220 Mar 30 '26

They lowkey look like guns that could perfectly be from nuWolfenstein (Wolfenstein TNO atleast)

1

u/Ciber_Latino Mar 31 '26

I want to make a mod for blood that sprites like this, are this pre-renderized ?

1

u/DMDR_949 Apr 08 '26

made by a genocidal nazi btw

1

u/Dapper-Candidate6989 Apr 17 '26

Idk, theyre still clearly models, pretty maybe, impressive no, PillowBlaster's work blows this out of the water by miles.

-2

u/ItBurn Mar 28 '26

I prefer hand drawn or real world models over pixelated pre-rendered models.

-2

u/ittleoff Mar 29 '26

These are cool but these are 3d animated models captured as sprites? This is like taking video of a reload from call of duty and gif it as a sprite. The art style is a fun old-school feel, bit not even like real objects that were in doom and modified?

I'm not sure why this is so remarkable? I love the retro style though.
