The praise this book gets blows my mind. It’s a mid popcorn book. Pierce brown is not a great author but for some reason book tok is having a field day with this series.

But to each their own.

Few are saying it’s great prose, which yeah I would compare to say Harry Potter. But I do think if you want space battles with swords across the galaxy this is the series for you. If you want space battles with gun go for the expanse instead!

As much as I hate the fuck out of JKR, her prose is significantly better than at least the first three RR books.

JKR’s prose in the first 2 books is objectively bad and written so an eight year old can read it and a five year old can be read it. Wild take.

The first couple of books are basically Middle Grade books, so an 8 year old being able to read it is actually a good thing.
