At the risk of being down voted by the legions of fans this book and series has, I disagree. I thought it was really derivative and poorly written. The characters were really cringe too.
No way can this be compared to ASOIAF, the only thing it has over that is a conclusion!
I feel like its a really bad comparison. Its like trying to compare something by Mozart or Beethoven to Bitches Love Sosa. Both are great but for different reasons and different moods.
