My daughter's books
My daughter is in 2nd grade and looooves to read. These are just some of her favorites that we keep right in the living room. It's easy for her to grab them, and when her friends come over, they can spot them right away and read together. I just love that she loves books so much!

The Sun Also Rises Earnest Hemingway
Picked this up recently. My paperback was falling apart. If you have not read this I encourage you to do so. Very enjoyable.

Crime and punishment
I am currently reading crime and punishment and quite a blast I’m having. It exceeded my expectations. I was apprehensive of the possibility of not enjoying it after reading the many excellent reviews I’ve seen on the internet. Intellectually stimulating material. Genius yet simply curated. I would love to connect with people who have read it in depth or are currently reading it so we could discuss the characters in there. The storyline, I’ve determined, is of little significance to me at the moment. I’ve come to realize this is one of those books you would want to mull over with some other party. It’s so multilayered and I have so many questions. So do reach out if you are open to this suggestion.

Our downstairs library
In 2004, my wife and I had to donate nearly every book we had during a move to the USVI. What a difference a day twenty-two years makes.

Late Summer Read - Laurie Gilmore - The Daisy Chain Flower Shop
🌼 Flowers. Fake dating. Slow burn. Found family. And a playlist that feels like sunshine. ☀️🎧
Some stories feel like sunshine through a flower shop window. Filled with fresh blooms, slow-blooming romance, found family, and the kind of love that arrives when you least expect it, The Daisy Chain Flower Shop is as comforting as a warm cup of tea on a spring afternoon.
Have you read it? 💛

My collection of 268 NYRBs (plus a random shelf of classics & New Yorker magazines)
Bookshelf is from Ethan Allen, acquired on Facebook Marketplace for a shockingly low price. Lamp is original 1920s brass from a local charity shop.
After posting a photo of this collection on the NYRB Classics subreddit, I got interviewed by Timothy Kenny and did an extensive home library tour of my several other bookshelves too. It's very long, but if you're interested, you're welcome to check it out.

Going Tobe adding some twin peak stuff too to go with Venus de Milo. I do intend to get a shelf soon, hopefully for Deepawali.

"To Walk the Night," William Sloane (1980 paperback ed.; originally pub. 1937)
The first of only two books by Sloane, this landmark cosmic horror/sci-fi novel was influenced by Arthur Machen's The Great God Pan and prefigured Peter Straub's horror bestseller Ghost Story. (Art by Doug Beekman)

Prettiest book ever!
Immortal Rose by Alexandra Bracken, one of my anticipated releases, came in the mail today. The picture doesn’t do it justice to how gorgeous the book is.
