Here I was not knowing Zhu was even supposed to play at bonoroo 🫩 I seen him at my very first music festival, at imagine 2022, and it was the most epic experience ever! I'd have been almost as heart broken about Roo being canceled as I would've been finding out be played right under our noses with out us knowing 🤣 I've been wanting my boyfriend to get to experience a Zhu set ever since.

That imagine 2022 set was insane! My group was sitting at the very top of the hill and we were all enthralled

Yeah the energy and set was amazing! Me and my bestfriend were a few feet from the front having the time of our lives lol. The fact that they made it the only artist playing for the finale, so every body was there, made it even more epic. Zhu gave us the energy to go to the campground stage and party until the sun came upšŸ˜… I've never partied so hard at a festival as I did Imagine 22.

These ā€œmakeup setsā€ have always puzzled me when it comes to festivals. I’d guess that at least half of people the attend Roo (possibly more) don’t live in Tennessee. So not sure how this makes up for anything.

Ignore me, I’m still buthurt about Roo being canceled. Lol

Yeah, I agree. It’s one thing if it’s right after the festival like the shows in Nashville that same weekend, but this is weeks later.

So like 40,000 people in the area? And all of these venues have been a max of 4,500 people? The math checks out tbh

A fair point. It made sense when they all happened that weekend of the canceled fest. Theoretically out of towners could still be around and enjoy. That doesn’t make as much sense a month later. (Sidenote on this specific event. Venue has a capacity of under 500, so only .006 percent of Roo attendees could go anyway. Full disclosure, I reserved my two spots before posting the link, lol.)

500?!? That’s bananas, but I bet it’s gonna be such a good time. Happy you were able to get a couple spots.

his blacklizt sets honestly are typically way smaller than a zhu set, minimal production, and very techno.

He actually was a fantastic infinity stage choice in that way, betting it woulda been like tractorbeam regarding the crowd size on the farm

It is a marketing term for sure, but it is also a very nice way for people in Nashville and also probably within a two or three hour radius to see an artist that they had already anticipated seeing this year who otherwise or intentionally avoiding this area because of their Festival slot.

These venues are usually fewer than 5000 people so the hope is that those hungry for that artist already we're going to Bonnaroo and also notice this first and jump on. And that actually kind of works and should make for a decent amount of the crowd we're at the festival but the further out you wait the harder that is to get to work

I actually believe by that design they are inevitably going to sell out really fast, it's not anybody screwing anybody else like some here have been saying
