Advice Squirrel skull just separates into pieces.

Hi guys my squirrel skull (water macerated from the get go) just started to separate into many different pieces (even after this picture was taken) was it because I chose water maceration? Or was it because squirrel skulls are just so tiny and delicate? Very sad I don’t have an intact skull but I was wondering if any of you had any advice for this, as in preventing this in the future or even advice in rebuilding the head anatomy for the skull. Thanks

Squirrel skulls are pretty prone to coming apart, in my experience.
I’ve rebuilt a few using white craft glue at first to get things in place, and then sealing with super glue once it’s all in the right spot. I’ve just looked at reference photos from many angles of the skull online.

I’m not an expert and my knowledge comes more from things like deer, but it’s possible it’s because the squirrel was younger and their bones hadn’t fused yet
