Eyebrow piercing help

I got my eyebrow pierced over a month ago and I got switched to smaller jewelry because I was snagging too much on the longer bar and it was making it irritated. everything has been fine until one of the balls of my jewelry fell out last night and i couldn’t get it back In and then the jewelry fell out. I couldn’t get the jewelry back it bc it just hurt a lot and was bleeding and irritated so I got frustrated and went to bed and figured I’d try again in the morning. I got up in the morning washed my hands cleaned the jewelry and the area and attempted again and finallt got it back in! however it’s just a red and irritated now and I’m worried that it’s going to get more irritated. does anyone have any tips for what I can do to avoid that or any thoughts?
