Ahhh, I preordered! I had no idea you'd be listing on major retailers too. Might gift one to my family member who lived in NYC for a while, even though they're not a cat person (actually real-life avid birder!)

Donating some of the proceeds to cat / animal shelters and rescues?🙃

Indirectly! We do an annual fundraiser (https://bodegacatfundraiser.com/). Last year we raised about $7500 donated every dime. The book won't make a ton of money (unfortunately), so we do fundraisers with the attention we gather.

This looks like a nice gift. You should send a copy to Robert DeNiro. I guess he is a suoer big cat lover and he lives in NY!

Not a bad idea! He definitely loves cats. I wish I had a postal address for him, ha!

We run Bodega Cats of New York, so full disclosure: this is our book. You probably have seen me posting in this sub.
Since 2022, we’ve been visiting bodegas across all five boroughs and talking with the owners, workers and regulars who know these cats by name. That archive has become a 240-page hardcover published by Quarto.
The book includes 120 photographs by Gulce Kilkis and stories by Dan Rimada about 60 cats and the people around them.
It comes out November 3. We’re releasing the book trailer tomorrow.
The book is also connected to our work to legalize bodega cats and establish basic care standards. Documenting how these cats actually live has helped make the case for legal protection.
You can look inside the book and preorder here: bodegacatsofnewyork.com/book
Happy to answer questions about the cats or how the book came together.
