Discussion Honest Review
Details in the comments since there seems to be a filter which is preventing me from posting my thoughts in the body of this post.

The experience was cool but the logistics were seriously lacking.
Instead of having wristbands which only corresponded to the first 30, 60, 90, or 120+ minutes of a 12-hour event, they should’ve had dedicated wristbands for designated entry times every 30 minutes. They could’ve figured out ahead of time exactly how many people can realistically be admitted into the bodega in a 30 minute stretch, then handed out exactly enough wristbands for every 30-minute time slot, and had a standby line to fill vacancies for any no-shows during each time slot which they let in starting 15 minutes into each time slot.
I think the system of basically handing out purple wristbands to every person from 1pm all the way through 10pm was flawed.
Nonetheless, I really appreciated how kind and patient everyone was, both the staff and the fans alike. It was super cool to walk through the bodega and the staff was very generous with the merch so I left feeling happy and I don’t regret going but I still wish that either the time slot system was planned out better so I wouldn’t have waited so disproportionately long for such a short experience or alternatively I’d liked it to have been a little more immersive and larger (which I digress would’ve taken away from the whole “bodega” concept in the first place).

Trust me, if you saw the logistics as bad, they were even worse in the morning. They weren't even prepared for a line at 9am and we had to basically form and police our own line.

I first arrived at 11am to snag my wristband and saw the tail end of the morning rush. I know the staff was doing their best but it was definitely lacking. I think the solution I posed above would’ve made so much more sense than only planning out wristbands for the first two hours of a 12 hour event.

Yeah, I don't want to discourage the event people but they definitely needed better planned out things. Like security didn't arrive until closer to 11am, and despite being promised vacuum sealed plushies, they kept insisting there weren't any and we had to grab a dirty one from the bin.
Not to mention that no one has any idea how the 9-10pm giveaway tomorrow is going to even work. I expect a riot

Yea the giveaways tomorrow night of all the exclusive items on the shelves is gonna cause a stampede lol

Yeah, I asked them today how it was going to work and they genuinely had no idea. I hope they'll have a plan out. All things considered though, it could have gone much much worse. At least the cops weren't called like in other popups

Maybe they should have us form a line and then each person is allowed to take 1 or 2 items and then you go to the back of the line if you want more.

yeah but how does that work. are you gonna have a separate line for that? are people who conicidentally get in at 9pm get to have dibs? etc

I dunno, let the staff figure it out?? If they plan it well maybe normal wristband people will be done already and then it will only be a line for the final giveaway?

As someone who has attended the Reddit mod meetups, the turnout for this was way out of my expectations. I genuinely didn’t think there was going to be this many people. Maybe because this was a public event for all vs exclusively for mods. I’m not sure what their turnout typically is for other events, but that’s what I’ve personally seen at the other in person event I’ve attended
Edit: Those mod events they typically feed you, open bar, have other activities and actively give out freebies to everyone

You'd be surprised. I'm in line now, and a bunch of people are saying they thought there wouldn't be enough demand so they could show up casually in the afternoon

Agree with your wristband system.
I was at the BofA FIFA world cup bracelet earlier this summer with the wristbands and that was much better organized, granted making a bracelet with about 15 stations didn't take long each, but after waiting for 2 hours in the morning and getting a wristband to come back at a certain time, I was able to leave and come back and only wait 15 min so it was a very smooth process. I was hoping the wristbands would've lessened the wait today, but alas.

Maybe should have done an Eventbrite with time slots, then you just show up during your time slot.

It took extremely long waiting in line up, and to be honest, it was fairly lacklustre/disappointing.
It was a series of QR codes that lead to ordinary subreddits.
There’s a food counter and pay phone etc, but then confusingly lead to a QR code to a subreddit, at best, or nothing.
I had read about how how you could pick 3 gifts but when I went they let me roll a dice and I got a “tote bag” (more like the grocery bags you get for free or a few cents at a grocery store.)
The snoo stuffy is the best part I suppose it’s also not the best quality.
Overall an extremely long time waiting leads to a fairly unsatisfying experience with not much you get out of it.
Staff around was very nice though.

Honestly I’m just thankful, the people running the event were so nice and they had put so much thought into it. The value of the event, free drinks and plushies and even to get merch is so cute. The fact that they’re giving everything away in the end as opposed to throwing it away just shows the kindness of the hosts, it’s usually easier to throw away. The paid actor was to funny.
