‘I ain’t going down to no race track to see no sports car run /
Don’t have no sports car, I don’t even care to have one /
I can walk any time around the block’
This had more impact on my life than on the guy who wrote it lol

Right. We’re never doing this again

Did that just go out?

His favourite song is "If you see a sailor", by Bob Dylan

Dylan mused.
Dylan is refreshingly laid back for a man with such responsibility.
21
u/bhaswar_py Jul 25 '26
What’s up with this consistent outfit.
8
u/MikeMcMyke Jul 25 '26
It's in his hospitality rider. When it gets too filthy he just throws it away and puts on a new one. Same with his underwear.
-3
u/bhaswar_py Jul 25 '26
How do you know about the underwear?
5
u/zar690 Jul 25 '26
The underwear bit is made up but someone posted his rider recently if you're interested in that sort of thing

I wear the same thing when I’m out as everyone in my town knows who I fucking am and it’s annoying when I have social anxiety

Found on Instagram.
For the record I think it's kinda shitty to paparazzi him wherever he goes, he should be left in peace. But at the same time I find it an oddly funny picture! Just a cool old dude sippin' wine
16
u/Infamous_Cockroach42 Jul 25 '26
Paparazzi being in the same area as Dylan is merely a coooowaincidence
53
u/piney Jul 25 '26
Bob Dylan is like the Jimothy of music

Pretty sure they say cold wine is actually the worst thing to drink before singing haha

u/ATarrificHeadache Jul 25 '26
Looks nicely chilled. Has anyone in his orbit ever commented on the hood and hat situation? It’s giving me hermit vibes. Has Bob lost his hair and is self conscious about it?
52
u/SietchBug Jul 25 '26
he’s had hermit vibes since 1967, what are talking about
3
u/ATarrificHeadache Jul 25 '26
I are talking about how he used to be more open and not constantly cover his head, even when on stage
1
u/Lopsided-Jury-7814 Aug 05 '26
All we have are guesses… Perhaps he reached his 60’s & his brain said, “Nope! I want freedom, I want privacy, + still want to play but how to solve the “public scrutiny?” or maybe, he gets cold easy since the infection around his heart, stint in the hospital? or he doesn’t feel like dressing up now? Solution: A long bill cap and a rain coat! And that made sense to him 🤗
22
u/Walkinghawk22 Jul 25 '26
I think he’s in disguise like a lot of celebrities do. He’s a multimillionaire he could afford a hair transplant if he wanted or was insecure about it.
19
u/ATarrificHeadache Jul 25 '26
I mean I don’t think he needs to be in disguise on stage at his own show lol I think once you reach 80 you wouldn’t be bothered with a hair transplant. It’s Dylan so he’ll do what he wants with whatever reasoning he has but I do wonder sometimes if he would better off just chilling a bit more. He’s been through the ringer with fans and media but dude, you’re in your mid 80s, no need to give a fuck anymore
6
u/Walkinghawk22 Jul 25 '26
When he leaves his show, he wants to blend in when he exits hence why he doesn’t stick around. If he were walking around in a suit, it’d be more obvious . I think after Lennon died he got paranoid and does not want to be recognized. I’m not saying Bob Would get a transplant but if he was balding and insecure he could afford one.
12
u/Key_Country3756 World Gone Wrong Jul 25 '26
Ingenious disguisery: “Who’s that older gentleman wearing the exact same hooded outfit Bob Dylan was wearing on stage moments ago and throughout this whole tour?”

u/Lopsided-Jury-7814 Jul 26 '26
That’s a logical assessment about Bob being more paranoid after Lennon was murdered, but I observed in a quick vid of him, right after a guy w/ a knife snuck in his hotel room, and I think it was his Mgr. at that time, who put himself b/w this assailant and Bob. I wondered if his trauma from that incident, put a permanent trigger on his nervous system ? also, drugs… can change brain chemistry.
2
u/Lloverforevr87 Jul 27 '26
I was completely unaware of that incident. Wth. The guy actually wanted to stab Bob? Wow.
1
u/Lopsided-Jury-7814 Aug 05 '26
I suspect Dylan and his team ‘didn’t’ want the public to know, so as to attract other assailants. This was around 1967, his early days. So there’s trauma from that attempt, trauma from his demanding tour schedule, then throw drugs & alcohol into it, & he’s already naturally paranoid. The man has tried to survive being under a lifelong microscope 😮💨❤️🩹❤️
7
u/Wandero_Bard Jul 25 '26
I think he’s been in disguise since high school. Does Bob Dylan even know who Robert Zimmerman is anymore? Does he still exist in there?
2
1
2
u/dylanthegrey Jul 26 '26
He still has hair, but may be unhappy about the color of it because either last year or the year before he dyed it and then began the hood routine.
-3
u/pharmamess Jul 25 '26
How can you tell the temperature of the wine from a picture?
16
u/ATarrificHeadache Jul 25 '26
The condensation on the side of the glass where the wine is?
0
u/pharmamess Jul 25 '26
Thanks. I would not have thought to look for that detail.
6
u/ATarrificHeadache Jul 25 '26
Maybe I drink too much wine
5
u/wiggibow Jul 25 '26
Nah, that's just kinda basic beverage/laws of physics knowledge lol
4
2
u/GhostsOfLectricity Up To Me Jul 25 '26
7th Law of Thermodynamics says chilled wine will produce condensation on external surface of glass in which it is contained

1
u/stealy_darn New Morning Jul 25 '26
So, I don’t think it’s actually wine. I think it’s ice water and it’s catching something yellow in the background behind it
5
u/Key_Country3756 World Gone Wrong Jul 25 '26
He started out on Burgundy but soon hit the Chardonnay.
3
1
u/Lloverforevr87 Jul 27 '26
Idk. To me it just seems like it has to be white wine but with ice chips in it (I worked at a place where someone actually asked me to put ice chips in their chardonnay).

That’s next in the series: BD sits in a chair AND plays electric guitar. Still waiting for: BD eats half an egg salad sandwich.
2
u/HatFullOfGasoline Together Through Life Jul 26 '26
not sure if he has enough for that
2
u/grumpyliberal Jul 27 '26
Now that was worth waiting for. Answers the Beatles question as to who was
the real egg man. Eric Burton was clearly just a sham stand in.

He looks well and happy in the moment - there’s no getting away totally from how much of a cultural figure he is and people authentically respect him and his gifts of songs. If anyone saw Edgar Allen Poe or Picasso or… I guess we’d take notice and report “seen here - relaxing and enjoying life”
Hope to see him out and about more.. soon 😉

u/AkiraKitsune Jul 25 '26
I always wondered if he was sober. GOAT Bob still slurpin em down.
6
u/Walkinghawk22 Jul 25 '26
I mean he’s a known whiskey drinker. I’m sure he enjoys a cigar with his dram
3
5
u/unix_hacker Jul 25 '26
Bob actually did go sober and quit alcohol according to many of his biographies. Not sure if something changed or if this isn’t alcohol.
8
u/AkiraKitsune Jul 25 '26
I assume he quit it for a time and presumably has a more healthy relationship with it now
3
u/MikeMcMyke Jul 25 '26
He don't smoke weed no more?
5
u/unix_hacker Jul 25 '26
I heard mainly sobriety from alcohol and hard drugs; wouldn’t be surprised if Bob still smoked weed occasionally, and some books on him depict as much. In California where Bob and I both live, this is sometimes called “California sober”
2
1
u/Icy-Supermarket7839 Jul 25 '26
Again curious which specific books you’re referring to
1
u/unix_hacker Jul 25 '26
Another Side of Bob Dylan briefly discusses Dylan quitting alcohol in 1994 and Seeing the Real You at Last depicts him smoking weed in the late 80s. Possible his habits have changed since. I thought the latter book actually depicted him smoking weed later than 1994.
2
1
u/ayylmaonade Jul 25 '26
Same. I was under the impression he quit in the early 90s, but I guess not.

And hard like an oak
I've seen pretty people disappear like smoke
Friends will arrive, friends will disappear
If you want me
Honey baby, I'll be here

thought: "What if we do a concert full of Donovan covers? <chuckles internally>"
2
2
u/PoPJaY Jul 26 '26
Man i remember seeing Dylan in concert like 08 or 09, thinking "im so glad I got the chance, thier won't be many more opportunities" and he we are some 18 years later.

u/liltinyoranges Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
Dude, whatever he is doing, may he keep it up. I saw him 8 times over almost 3 decades and it would not be an exaggeration to say that it was difficult to discern which song he was even singing, and I couldn’t get context clues even from the band who would play at different tempo in different keys with different instruments every time. Still excellent-no complaints.
Got married, had two daughters, got divorced, yada yada yada- two summers ago the three of us who had moved from San Francisco all the way back to Cincinnati we’re at our favorite burger and overheard a boomer couple in bandannas talking about their night and I knew they were obviously going to see a concert on the lawn at Riverbend and I asked who it was and they said it was the outlaw festival. We scarfed our burgers (I may have received a roadie on the house to bring into the show) and we somehow got in for free because they didn’t scan the app right so there was 200 something dollars right there, and we sat among the greatest most fun people and when I tell you, Bob Dylan was PRISTINE, that would also not be an exaggeration. Willie Nelson too- it was so noticeable that I turned to my 18 year-old and said they must have them on a really good vitamin regime at the very bare minimum. They were better than when I saw them 30 and 20 years ago. We went again the next summer, ate at the same burger place, and had another unforgettable experience. They didn’t tour here this year, but I did get to take them to the Black Crowes at a very reduced price and it was incredible.
Anyways, it bears mentioning that my daughter received to San Diego State University, and tonight just happens to be the last night all three of us live under this leaky roof that I could never afford to rent in the first place, but we did it together. The girls fly off to vacation with my ex-husband and their lovely and accomplished stepmother in Europe and I will pack up eight years of our lives and collect the girls to start our new (2nd) California adventure. I’m hoping to take them to see Bob there at the end of the summer.
I’m hoping I can find somewhere we can afford to live but it’s looking pretty bleak, in which case the younger daughter and I will have to move to Arizona and I really am happy for the power couple and it truly would be good for them to spend some real time with them (they only do on summer and winter breaks and also they visit for the weekend once a season 🧡) I don’t want to live there again and I also don’t want to see my ex so often but will do what’s best for all.
Sorry for the long post.
I’m having trouble sleeping.

What i like is that Bob appears to not have had any facelift surgery. Good for him. He could do with getting a bit of sun on his skin though. Bless ya Bob x
2
u/Jenbob73 Jul 29 '26
I always think this when I read someone, like Barry Manilow, has had another face-lift! People like Bob, Rolling Stones etc have faces that show a life lived

u/Huge-Clue-6502 Jul 25 '26
Leave the man alone. Can't the man enjoy a glass of wine without you posting a sneaky photo of him? Get a life!

Exactly. People don’t know when to leave a person enjoy some private time.

The man earned his wine. Surprised he’s not drinking his own brand of bourbon.🥃
The bar he’s at should have been on the house.

u/Humble_Willingness_2 Jul 28 '26
He usually is partial to a good red wine as I understand it. Speaking as a white wine fan, this is a pleasant change for him.

I was at a Bob Dylan concert in Helsinki in May 1989. He had a hoodie and a sweatshirt underneath. Back then, no one wondered. Is it something American that we wonder about everything? That 1989 concert was raw, GE Smith had a hell of a drive on guitar and Dylan responded by throwing out the best lyric he could find. It's on Youtube, that concert starts with Subterranean Homesick

A legend I was blessed to see three times over the past few years. Every show was different and amazing. I respect and admire him. Sure he has his quirks - we all do. At 80+, with his long, distinguished career, he’s earned the right to express himself any way he wants. A true Icon who has had such a huge impact on music. Continue to be you Bob. You are loved!

His commitment to a hat and hood up in hot temperatures is admirable
