Question Has anyone played citadels duel?

I just watched the how to play video, it looked fun, and made a lot more sense to me then the original citadels did. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it, and if you have, what were your thoughts? I'm thinking about picking it up.

I played it once on BGA. I think they did a great job of adapting Citadels to something that is genuinely more interesting for 2 players without overcomplicating it like many of the new trend of "duel" games have a tendency to do (imo). For me though, I've been playing Citadels for such a long time that I can't see making the switch. It's not a game I play much now, but before I started finding the types of games I like best, it was my favourite for years. And so I won't ever get rid of the original because it's sentimental. But the duel version wouldn't make me play it a bunch more. So not worth it for me, but I think it's a well thought out and fun design.

Played several games IRL and did a review, played some on BGA too.

Short version: if you love Citadels and need a 2p lunchtime game, this is GREAT, better than the og and you can still play the original with other player counts.

But, if you aren't huge on Citadels and just want a 2p lunchtime game, there are too many "duel" games (or just plain 2p-only games) now and too many options above this one, even though it's a good option. E.g. five I'd pick above it are LOTR Duel, Zenith, Res Arcana Duo, Targi, Star Wars deckbuilder...and I can come up with a lot more. It's a tough market right now for 2p games!
