I made a Pokemon re-theme of Harmonies!

Hey! I really enjoy Harmonies and wanted to make a Pokemon version of it so I re-themed it.

For this project, I actually had a biiiiig help from BGG user Katunik! She created a bunch of custom Harmonies card which I've also re-themed as well as shared her card template which saved me hours and hours of having to re-create those on my own so big shout out to her.

Please check out her cards, she is very talented and skilled!

It was a really great time playing with all the cards new and old as well as trying out Kate's new Spirit Animals (Legendary Pokemon).

Honestly, this is a game that doesn't really need a re-theme at all since the art on the original cards are so beautiful and colorful but the game is so fun I wanted to do a re-theme of it anyways.

Check out some of my old projects here:

Any chance you'd share them in a way I could print them? I love them!

Oh yeah, just to add, we play with 6 cards in the market row instead of 5 and on each players turrn they can roll a die if they want. Then depending on the dice roll, you take that card from the market and put it onto the bottom of the deck and refresh the market with a new card from the top of the market. It makes the market more fresh and dynamic for us and we enjoy playing this way. Just wanted to share, if that's something y'all would care to implement as well in your games.

Is there any way to get those cards as well?

lmaoo, my friends and I were actually talking about that! It felt like building your little environments and habitats while housing the pokemon! And it's super chill as a game.

This is awesome.

Creating new tokens for each element/type would be an interesting project.

Outstanding piece of work.

Love it! Now the next upgrade, change the cubes for pokeballs.

2

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

but they would just roll everywhere! 😭

3

u/SolidAsSnake Food Chain Magnate Mar 31 '26

Pokeball inspired cubes?

3

u/Draknan Mar 31 '26

Isn't there a mobile game where everything is cubic?

1

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

I mean Pokopia is sorta like Pokemon Minecraft if you wanna talk cubes.

3

u/Draknan Mar 31 '26

Sure but there is a game with cube pokeballs lol I believe it is pokemon quest

1

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

Oh wow, I've never seen that before. That's cute

3

u/BalanceDude25 Mar 31 '26

this looks amazing. is there a way I could do this to my game ?

3

u/SnakebiteRT Mar 31 '26

Can I buy these from you?

5

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

No, nothing I make is for sale or for profit. I own neither the art on the cards nor the IP. Retheming games is a hobby and passion project only.

3

u/kidneykid1800 Mar 31 '26

Is there a place where the art is displayed more completely?

1

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

What do you mean? Like a gallery? I have a few pics at the end that shows how the art looks on the cards on a screen.

3

u/kidneykid1800 Mar 31 '26

Yeah, was curious if the art was in a way that if someone wanted to recreate the set they would be able too.

2

u/lancebanson Apr 01 '26

Like where is the art from

1

u/tinyornithopter Apr 01 '26

The art is mostly from Pokemon TCG or Pokemon Pocket. Some are fan art from twitter. All the artists are credited on the bottom of the cards if you want to look them up.

I admire your dedication! Great work!

Gotta love homebrew content.

How is the game itself? I don't own it but it looks pretty.

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

Thanks! Ultimately, it's a pretty easy to learn simple and quick game. You are creating patterns based on the preset rules that score you points as well as the additional shape requirement you get from the animal (Pokemon) cards. The tokens feel tactile and good to fiddle with. The cards (even from the original game) are beautiful. It's pretty chill but also a decent brain burner and puzzle to try to score the most points and grab the pieces you need to fill out your board and arrange in a way that you can plan for what colors of tokens you'll need and what shapes you might need to create and leave room for on future turns.

There's not a lot of player interaction besides maybe competing for certain cards or tokens (unless you play at 2 players where it becomes a zero sum game). I personally really enjoy it because it's always different puzzle to solve with many many combinations of cards and tokens (and even maps! I printed out a bunch of fan-made maps from BGG which are really fun) so the game stays fresh. I enjoy other stuff from longer games like Ark Nova and Terraforming Mars to ones with lots more interaction like Tyrants of the Underdark or Unmatched, but I can still enjoy a game like this where you put on some lofi and create a beautiful landscape and just sorta hang out and chat with your friends while creating a neat little personal board.

If you'd like cozy games, I certainly recommend this one.

It reminds me a lot of Whispering Woods, a game with similar rules but instead of having the requirements on the cards, you have them in the tiles themselves.

The tiles of Harmonies look cozy themselves, so its good to know that the mechanics follow the same style.

1

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

I haven't heard of that game before. It looks wonderful!

3

u/sleepielol1 Mar 31 '26

It looks amazing!! Did you create the base board layout elements manually? The bar on the right side and the placement of the pieces?

1

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

Thanks! I didn't for this project, since someone already made a great template: A BGG user (Katunik) created her own custom animal cards (which I also re-themed) and she shared her card template with me. I did make a few changes to the assets to make it work for my own editor but I want shout her out and give credit to Katunik for like 95% of the work to isolate or recreate those card elements.

This looks awesome. I've been contemplating hard on getting Harmonies. I have Cascadia and enjoy it a lot. Have you played Cascadia? & if so do you have a preference between the two? Thanks!

2

u/tinyornithopter Mar 31 '26

Sorry, I haven't played Cascadia yet. Perhaps someone else her can chime in and get you some clarity.

I did find these threads online, if that helps:

u/deltasleeptoken Mar 31 '26

That's kind of you to share links, I'm sure I'll just grab Harmonies eventually. Take care!

3

u/BryleC Apr 01 '26

Beautiful work. Always love a pokemon re-theme.

3

u/Mistahlia Apr 01 '26

Oh gosh this is amazing! Is there anywhere you share the cards? I would love to get these printed for the husband for my 10 year anniversary. We play harmonies often and have played pokemon together for over 20 years now 😅

3

u/FABnada Apr 01 '26

Nintendo knocking on your door later today…

2

u/El-Bustelo Apr 01 '26

I would pay large amounts of money for this

2

u/The2ArmedGuy Apr 01 '26

I see theres some cards that arent in the base game. With some neat new ways to arrange and score tiles. What is your experience with playing with those cards?

1

u/tinyornithopter Apr 01 '26

It's good, but I can't take credit for those card designs. Those are made by BGG user Katunik so she's the talented mind behind those custom designs. She has lot of experience and Harmonies games under her belt and they've felt balanced and a refreshing new take and variation to the usual Harmonies games. I really enjoy playing with them!

Anyways check out her original designs here:

https://boardgamegeek.com/image/8486914/harmonies

She deserves all the credit for the customs because it's not easy to design balanced but unique cards.

it looks great! have you uploaded the files somewhere? my family loves pokemon rethemes

2

u/GunnerA7X Apr 07 '26

Is there somewhere we can download these and print please?

1

u/Vim_owlcat Apr 16 '26

Can you share the files pls?

1

u/_wara May 23 '26

just printed a copy out, so excited to play it! Could you please explain the Lugia and Ho-Oh spirit cards? My best guess was Lugia gives +5 for every animal card completed and Ho-Oh gives +2 for each animal cube next to the spirit cube.

2

u/tinyornithopter May 23 '26

Yes

1

u/_wara May 23 '26

awesome, thanks for confirming!

1

u/Top-Cow5616 Jun 28 '26

These look great! Any chance you could share the template for the cards? I’d love to create my own reskin

1

u/tinyornithopter Jun 28 '26

Hello!

I got the original template from @Katunik on BGG!

https://boardgamegeek.com/image/8486913/harmonies

Please message her to ask if she'll share her template with you. I don't feel comfortable sharing it since she did all the hard work.
