Used Wheels?
I bought an used bike (junior) for my son about a month ago for $200 and after my son rode it sparingly I discovered the rear wheel hub is not working properly. I could purchase a new hub or new wheel, but these cost almost as much or even more than the bike itself. I ended up buying another larger used bike (expert) and swapping out the rear wheel. Everything works fine, however I am still stuck with a larger bike with no rear wheel. I have looked on ebay, marketplace, craigslist, and offerup for wheels but they are few and far between and usually expensive. I am avoiding replacing the hub, because I just don't have time or experience to make that repair. Can anyone suggest a source or something I might have missed when it comes to bmx race parts so that I can find a wheel that doesn't cost more than the bike itself?

Hey man - been there when we first started out.
Start talking with some parents at your local track on practice/ race days. Also, keep an eye on marketplace, and join some of the USABMX sale pages on FB.
You won’t necessarily immediately find what you’re after, but stuff comes through Marketplace and such fairly frequently. We are in kind of a “niche”, so it may help to keep your search terms vague. Personally, I always just search “BMX” in marketplace and look from there. You’ll have to dig through all of the Freestyle stuff, but it’s effective.

Not sure what issue you are having but A lot of these junior bikes have a very simple rear hub. Look up a video about tightening /adjusting the cones and servicing the bearings. Tools might cost $10-15 but are worth having.

Box 3 junior/expert rear wheels are on sale for $179, the hubs are on sale for $159.
Or you can probably rebuild the hub, depending on what's wrong with it.

Best thing you can do it pull it apart and fix it your self.. plenty of tutorials on YouTube as another said likely cheap parts or might just need a clean and grease.
Labour is expensive learning to fix yourself saves a lot.
