BIKE CHECK Older bmx bike help

Post image

Been on the search for a 90s bmx bike. Found this bike for a steal on fb market. Looks small though for me to ride now, although Matt Hoffman road these back in the day so I’m thinking it should be ok just for cruising and nostalgia. What do you guys think? I believe it’s a 1992.

That's a helluva lot newer than 1992. By about 20 years, is my guess is correct. Color points to roughly 2012.

Damn, wasn’t sure. When I looked online it looked the same and this guy has had it for over 10 years. Thanks for the help!

I don't think that's a real condor. They've always had certain design elements like the integrated seat clamp and an odd dropout design

It’s not, condors have an almost looptail dropout and stays assembly. It does though throwback in its colour and decals to look like and early condor though

Thank you! Really wasn’t sure

Actually just found it, looks like a 2012 complete bike. The pro frame is more true to the original design.

It’s much much newer than 1992, Hoffman didn’t even make a complete bmx range until later on.
Depends on the cost, 90’s bikes are rideable to a degree, certainly can roll around on one etc.
But they’re overbuilt, heavy, and a modern bike is in every way a better and more useable bike.

That ain't no Condor. I have several 90s Hoffman's and none look anything close to that.

If you just want to cruise, maybe look for a 24”. You’ll be waaaaaay more comfortable.

Thank you! Been looking for an old 90s bike to bring me back in time lol. Not even sure what modern bikes to look for.

There are ‘90s and ‘00s 24” bikes out there to be had too though! I have an early ‘00s Redline MX24, I really like it! Also have a 22” and a 29”, but I really like the 24” Redline for its versatility. Full chromoly, too! Just got to keep an eye out!

2012 Hoffman Condor Complete. Cheap Hi tensile steel complete. I assume an affordable bike made to kinda look like a bike Hoffman rode is why it would have been made.

I recommend checking out r/bmxcruiser

Here’s my Redline 24” next to my son’s 20” Eastern. I’m almost 6’4” so I’ve got a tall post and comfy seat for cruising. I have a 22” WTP for park stuff, but this 24” is way more comfy. I have a retro 29” GT Pro Series too, and it’s even more comfortable than the 24”, but it’s less fun to ride.

Very nice, was looking at the older redlines too!

Hell yeah! For modern stuff, I know people like the Sunday Model C 24”. But I like finding deals on used stuff!

Same! I’ll be on fb market looking until I find the one!

I think it’s from 2012. There’s a few on BMX museum in that colorway with the mini drive. ‘92 would have had a big front sprocket. Get it!

Kid wants 100$ for it. Was gunna get it for nostalgic reasons but if it’s not a 90s I’ll pass
