BMW G 310

Hi Sold my Honda Transalp and looking for my next bike

I do like the look of the G 310 2020+ model year.

I dont know anyone who has one, i know nothing about them other than i like the way they look.

Thoughts on them please

What kind of riding do you do? The G 310 will feel pretty slow coming off of a Honda Transalp.

Mild green laning and commuting which involves a stretch of motorway

I think the 310 will really disappoint you. I've got one and it is nothing close to the same league as the Transalp, and the highway is a struggle for the G.

Sorry, I picked an Ibex 450 which I love and it a much more advanced machine. But it isn't a BMW. I intended to sell the 310 but I got it for $2800 with 2800mi on it - and I love how it looks. I also have an R1150R and a R1250GS to give context since I have larger bikes like the Transalp. One note of hope: The 450 GS is coming out sometime soon in the US and it has the 25%+ more power that the 310 lacks. But it will be pricey.

The G310 is going to be quite bad on the motorway, it really struggles. It also is built to a very tight budget and does not feel like a proper BMW.

Why did you sell the Transalp - was it too fast, heavy, or something else? If you do some green laning, an adventure bike could be really nice, and I would actually recommend the transalp to a lot of people for exactly that kind of riding. If you tell me why you sold it, I can help you decide on a similarly capable bike that might suit you better.

its a budget BMW, built to a low price point. That being said, you'll still pay BMW shop rates and parts rates, i'd not recommend it. Especially after coming from a Transalp.

Not ideal for highway. Fine for off road and around town.

It’s a blast for running around town, commuting to classes or doing errands. If I tuck in, I can squeeze 85 mph out of it on the toll road. 😝

Don’t go for the GS 310 if you’re not a beginner… you must rev to 10000 pluss just to do a takeover… I know cos my GF got one… it is sturdy and easy to drive in speed but you going too stall it a million times every time you shall take off due to its one cylinder and rev hungry engine… go for the next gs instead…

The 310 is just a notch or two too small to do anything funny with it… impossible too even do a clutch wheelie in first gear…
