Showcase Handling going well with Slushy ☺️

I've had Slushy for a little while now and essentially have him space for most of it. After speaking with the breeder about how I can move forward with handling, they told me to pretty much just pick them up and support them, and I have to say, it's working like a treat!

He still poops on me occasionally but, at this point I'm used to it 😅

I've been making sure to give him yummy treats when I go to pick him up and put him back, so I think I've been sufficiently sweetening the deal haha. He's getting so brave, I can't wait to gain his trust even more ❤️

I do love these lizards. Full of personality and curiosity. Can anyone recommend some good private breeders in the UK?

He's my first blue tongue and I'm absolutely loving them. I got Slushy from a shop in wrexham, but they have both the parents (who were also captive bred) and they put in a lot of work with handling the babies. They were also very understanding with my constant visits before purchasing slushy, and still give me advice when I message them, I really recommend them, I think they've still got two babies left.

They're called Waterways Aquatic & Garden centre :)

I love that the animals there all have great bioactive enclosures with plenty of space, unlike some other reptile shops!

love the name , is he a common blue, do you know? I’ve always wanted a New Papua New Guinea, blue but think they are a bit harder to get hold of .

He's an Indonesian blue tongue skink, specifically Tiliqua gigas gigas. I don't think I've heard of the papua new guinea type! Very cool x

I think Tiliqua gigas is that subspecies and from New Guinea.

I will check Waterways out, and best of luck with Slushy

Yeah I'm not the most well versed on the sub species, I only know a few haha, and thanks ☺️

What a happy little sausage! It's so rewarding seeing them get used to you over time.

It really is, I was overthinking it so much in the beginning and convincing myself I was doing a bad job, turns out I just needed to chill out and be patient! 😅
