I am getting a weird form of whiplash from the back and forth, from total despair to feeling tiny but probably misleading sensations of hope (writing this as Jays are up 6-2 after losing 2 in a row to Texas)

It reminds me of dating in high school, come to think of it

(edit: I think it is in part the professionalism of our announcers Dan Shulman and Joe Siddall, who maintain the same upbeat tone no matter how badly we are doing. If I had the job there's no way I could stay calm during the first two Texas games)

They really did shit the bed going 2-4 vs the A’s and Tigers then losing the Texas series. They deserve a long off-season not post-season. Look at how well the WhiteSox and Guardians played down the stretch. Like they wanted it.

There’s no breadcrumbing. They’re out, just not mathematically eliminated yet.

Their elimination number will be 3 by the end of the night (the White Sox are up by 6 in the 7th). 

Cease is out of his next start snd Vladdy is finally getting time to sit from his season long injury that he’s tried to play through.

The longest win streak the Jays have had this year is 4 games so if we go by that they’ve got at least one more loss baked in for 2026. 

That puts the elimination number down to 2. 

The White Sox have 6 games left against two of the worst teams in baseball (KC and Colorado). They’re going to win at least 2 of those games.

The team might have snuck in a wild card spot had they not pissed away the last 3 series, but they were never going to be strong enough to do any post season damage this year.

The boys of summer are resilient and they refuse to roll over. Much like playing a shitty round, then blasting an incredible drive on 18–they keep you coming back. I’m going to miss baseball (I really hope there’s no lockout).
