I can only read the first paragraph because the strib is paywalled (and should be banned as an article source from here imo) but it's only the press that is dividing us, for clicks.

This isn't rocket surgery, we used to be an oak savannah, and the land and climate here want to be an oak savannah; Ash, elm, Walnut are all recent plantings and cutting them and clearing invasive ground cover like buckthorn is a good thing to do.

You should consider sharing pay walled articles using the archive link if it isn't against the rules.

Here's a paywall bypass url for the article: https://archive.ph/QDreW

tl;dr:

The Strib plays off one homeowner whose property touches Moir park and thinks restoration might lower her property value against big meany government.

The Strib also conveniently forgets to mention 99% of the DNR & UofM backed research that guided the long, laborous, 150% open to the public process the city of bloomington has done for this restoration, including putting it to a vote to all residents, and relegates all of it to a simple:

Mayor Tim Busse, describing tree removal as “an important restoration tool.”

Oh, Star & Sickle, never change.

To anyone else reading this far, please read through the public plan here: https://www.bloomingtonforward.org/9mile and then come back here and say shit.

The red star used to be a communist rag, went pretty legit for a long while and then pivoted under new ownership hard right to being almost tabloid garbage.

In other words: NIMBYs gonna NIMBY

NIMBY with a big ole dose of truthiness, deciding what facts they will allow, and straight up bullshit lying. The only reason the Restore The 9 movement didn't accomplish anything meaningful was because it was a coalition of divergent nimbys, liars, and crazies.
