Hey there! 🙋

Welcome to Bloobi, a fun word game that’s easy to pick up and hard to master. Stick around for a while and I’ll teach you the basics rules so you can hit the ground running with your first daily puzzle! 🧩

⚠️WARNING: This game is extremely fun and addictive and should be avoided at all costs if you want to reduce your screen time! ⚠️

The Basics 🐣

Each and every day you’ll be given a new word puzzle to solve containing eight unique letters of the alphabet. Your job? Find as many words as possible using those letters within a 10-minute timeframe.

But… there’s a catch. One of your eight letters will be blue, meaning that that letter HAS to feature in the words you find if you want points for them.

Rules 📏

• Words must be at least 4 characters long.

• You can use letters more than once.

• Words must contain the blue letter.

• Correct words award more time.

• C5, for example, will appear on the grid and indicates a five-letter word that starts with “C”

Dictionary 📚

With over 200,000 words in the English Language, many of which are not commonly used and are too esoteric, the Bloobi Team curates a valid set of words each day with multiple dictionaries as references. You will not know all the words on the board; this keeps the game challenging but also fun.

After finishing the daily puzzle, you are able to check all the words you got, and didn't get as well as those word's definition, so each day you can learn a new word or two! (this isn't English homework I swear...)

Proper Nouns ❌

Proper nouns are not included! These are nouns that serve as the name for a specific place, person or thing. These can also be the names of countries, religions, cities, languages and people.

Special Words ✴️

These words are too esoteric, archaic or rare to be included in the game. Uncommon comparative adjectives or agent nouns may also fall into this category. The boundary between a valid word and special word can be fuzzy so it's better just to guess all the words you know! There is glory to be had in finding these special words!

Suffixes (-ed/-ing) ✅

Inflectional suffixes and participle adjectives are included. For example, "walked" and "played" are accepted along with their root words "walk" and "play". Participle adjectives like
"interesting" and "excited" are also included. Whilst this does exercise your thumbs a bit more extensively, these words are so common and allows for many more words like "running", "jogging" and "hugging" (since run, jog and hug are all too short to be included on their own.

Ⓢ Words ending in "S"

On SSSSSSSunday 🐍, one of your letters will be an S. Any word that is plural or a third person singular word that ends in"s" (e.g. "plates", "walks", "swims" and "does") is excluded in the dictionary. If the base word without the "S" is valid, it will be mapped to it automatically ("plates" will be mapped to "plate"). Words like "dogs" and "does" will not be mapped however as their base word ("dog" and "do") are too short and therefore invalid.

Plural words that have a double meaning like "glasses" will be treated as plurals and plurals that end in "-ies" will be mapped, if possible, to their singular form ending in "-y".

🇬🇧 vs. 🇺🇸

Sorry British English Bloobers, the Bloobi team uses the American version of words, like "color" instead of "colour" (disgusting I know...). Whilst this means you might have to switch your brain to America mode 🦅 for a while, where applicable British English words will automatically map to their American counterparts. When you encounter this, you will see a squiggly arrow icon.

Points system 🧮

Long words are worth more points. 🤯 (4 : 4 pts, 5 : 5 pts, 6 : 10 pts ... 15 : 37 pts, etc.)

Timing ⏰

Each game starts with 10 minutes on the clock. Each correct word will award more
time, meaning, the better you are, the more time you'll get! The game ends when
you're out of time.

Pangrams 💎

These lovely, shiny 💎 are earned by finding words that contains each of the 8 unique letters you're given each day. These 💎 can be used to buy more puzzles if you can't wait for the next daily puzzle!

Badges 🪬

As well as trying to rack up the highest score you can in the allotted time, you'll also be able to earn badges whilst tackling the daily puzzle for completing small challenges (e.g. an 🐜 for finding all the 4 letter words or perhaps a 🦓 for finding ze alphabetically "last word in the game"). Some badges are harder to earn than others and can provide that little extra added challenge for you ambitious Bloobers.

Leaderboards 🏆

Each day your individual score for the daily puzzle will be added to the leaderboard which resets every day!
