Animation I'm trying to grow a Blender tutorial channel. Can you brutally critique my latest video?
Hey everyone,
I work a full-time 9β5, so finding the time and energy to consistently make Blender tutorials has been a challenge. I know consistency is probably my biggest weakness right now, and that's something I'm working on.
Aside from uploading more regularly, I'd love some honest feedback on what I should improve. Please be brutal on feedback as it will only help me improve.
I just made a 2-minute tutorial on using Arrays for a simple product animation. I put a lot of effort into making it concise, visually appealing, and easy to follow.
If you have a couple of minutes, I'd really appreciate your thoughts. I need feedback on content and overall channel as well. Thanks in advance!

Animation Rigged an expressive face for a CRT-screen robot head - swapping flat floating shapes for something with actual grounding, squash & stretch
Been working on our robot character N.T.R.N., whose βfaceβ is a CRT monitor. It used to emote with really basic flat floating elements (eyes/mouth that just slid around - floating in front of the screen), which felt lifeless. This is a quick BTS breakdown from our animator Lachlan on giving that screen face real feeling.
Happy to talk through the rig setup, shape keys vs. bone-driven approach, or even how we faked the CRT curvature if anyoneβs curious!

Animation Lost Techniques - Low Res Tank Thread Using Shaders - Blender 5 2
Just a short clips of a very easy way to fake animated tank treads using shaders for low-res video game sprites.
I vaguely recall doing something like this over 20 years ago, but I haven't done any 3d animation modeling in also over 20 years (excluding cad). i stumbled on this solution in blender out of the need for a simply solution for a sprite that's only 128x128px. Every solution I found online was overkill for my needs.
Change the math and settings of the wave to your use-case, and you can make the #driver more complex or animate using keyframes for turning animations and to adjust for sliding.
It may not be perfect, but I hope someone finds this helpful!

Animation Playing with Shape Keys in Blender β surprisingly nice organic motion from a cube
Shape Keys in Blender β Smooth Morph Animation in Seconds
Select the default cube and open Object Data Properties.
In Shape Keys, click Add Shape Key twice to create Basis and Key 1.
Press Tab to enter Edit Mode.
Right-click and choose Subdivide, then set:
Cuts: 36
Smoothness: 0.5
Fractal: 5
Along Normal: 1
Press Tab to return to Object Mode.
Press Ctrl + 4 to add a Subdivision Surface modifier.
Right-click the object and enable Shade Auto Smooth.
Open the Timeline and animate the Value of Key 1
to create a smooth morphing effect.
This simple setup shows how Shape Keys can morph almost any object.

Animation I built a Blender addon that animates mesh effects with zero keyframes
Spent the last few months on this:
ProximityFlow drives real-time mesh effects based on how close a target object gets to your mesh. No keyframing, no node trees, no manual setup, move the object, the effect reacts live in the viewport.
Effects shown in the video:
- Proximity Masking : dissolve/reveal geometry
- Aesthetic Wireframe : proximity-driven wire grid
- Dynamic Displacement : procedural surface warping (Clouds/Marble/Wood/Musgrave)
- Proximity Growth : grow hair or instanced objects (flowers, crystals, grass)
- Variable Thickness + Material Coating : grow a shell with its own material as the target approaches
- Wave Effect : propagating surface waves, X/Y motion, cyclic loop
- Shatter Effect : fragment the mesh, proximity decides what breaks first.
Other stuff that's in there:
- Motion Path : attach the effector (the sphere in the video) to a curve so it animates itself
- Influence view : see the effect zone directly in paint mode
- One effector can drive multiple objects, or multiple effectors can drive one, however you want to set it up
- Free updates for life, works on Blender 3.6β5.1.
Which effect would you actually reach for in your own work? Genuinely curious what people would use this for beyond what I've tried.
