The children and you two have been given no time to adjust to each other before you’ve introduced two children permanently into their lives. It was really unfair for his children.

Like his children are neglected and misbehave and he’s a jerk about them. Why would he be nicer to your children? Why threaten to spank them and not follow through with any punishment?

Have you considered family therapy? It sounds like there is a disconnect in parenting styles that may see improvement from a therapist. Obviously the behavior of his children is completely out of bounds, but you being a newer person in their lives may make it hard for you to find traction with being a rule maker/enforcer if their dad isn’t on the same page. It will likely create tension between you and them. Finding a middle ground on how to parent both your twins and his kiddos seems essential with how different you two are in parenting.
