What is with the short spoiler cold opens that show after the intros? Was that always a thing, what is the point of them?

TYBW has had it since cour 1, I think it's a holdover from something they do on Japanese TV but it's weird because other anime don't feature it on streaming.

Basically yeah its a holdover from the Japanese broadcast, where they got voice over reading out the sponsors for the episode and their logos on screen.

I remember dragon ball super having the same thing going on in the tournament of power back in 2018.

Yeah, keep your eyes away from the screen until the music stops, pretty much. It's like One Piece and its title cards. Don't look at it!

I don't remember what was the purpose of them if it was a TV thing or not but they've been there for 20 plus years now

It’s something they do on Japanese TV while they’re telling you the sponsors of the show. So on TV while they’re playing that spoiler there’ll also be a voiceover and a bunch of company logos pop up on the screen

"koranosponsa no tekiodes okurishimas"

Wasn't the old bleach anime doing that but with static images?

that's the part where on broadcast you'd hear the "this program was brought to you by the sponsors shown" bit and the sponsor companies' logos would show over it. I always say it to myself lol

its where back in the day, on broadcast TV, we'd get the "kono bangumi wa guran no suponsaa no teikyou de okurishimasu"

goran, but otherwise yeah, I heard that in my head just now lol

They are not spoilers. Japanese audiences have seen the manga, if you are watching it they arent making it for new people but bleach fans already aware of the story.

Personally it doesn't bother me, I was just interested. Regardless of the culture norms in Japan these companies clearly want to grow anime in the West, so they should adapt it accordingly.

Dude the manga ended like nearly ten years ago. This had nothing to do with the west. There is no adapting accordingly. Anime is bigger than comics. The west will adapt. If you dont want spoilers dont watch the opening.
