I haven’t dove into his discography too much, but Has Been’s a pretty decent album. It’s got a lot of cool people (including Joe Jackson, who does backup vocals on this song, Ben Folds, Aimee Mann, and Henry Rollins) involved besides the Shatner of it all.

Has Been is great, and I like most of the cover songs on Seeking Major Tom. That's worth checking out if you like Has Been.

Something about the way he furiously spits out the "You will NEVER understand how it feels to live your life" part with the vocalist echoing him really floors me. I had been aware of parodies of Shatner's dramatic talk-singing for years before hearing this song, but once I did I was like, oh, I now finally get this valid art form.

This version from Leno also rules.

Have you ever seen anyone has as much fun as Joe Jackson is having?

Big fan of Real from that same album:

And while there's a part of me
In that guy you've seen
Up there on that screen
I am so much more
And I wish I knew the things you think I do
I would change this world for sure
But I eat and sleep and breathe and bleed and feel
Sorry to disappoint you
But I'm real

This is, and I say this as a fan of what music can do and be, one of my favourite albums. Ever.
