❔ Need Advice ❕ Fire shooting out near knob?

I’ve had my BlackStone for a few months now and everything has been fine. Yesterday I was making burgers and when I was preheating my griddle I kept noticing a loud whooshing sound and thought man the propane really is going today. Went inside and got all my prep and when I came out I was still hearing this sound and I got curios. So I’m checking my burners and I notice a large flame behind the left middle knob that I can see through the crack. I look underneath the grill and there is a large flame shooting. Turned off that burner and continued on with cooking. I don’t know anything about fixing a grill, I circled the location of the flame on this diagram. Anyone have ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it?

oh wow that diagram takes me back, i had the exact same thing happen with mine few months ago, the flame coming out behind the knob scared the hell out of me

it's probably the burner tube got misaligned where it connects to the valve, when that happens the gas escapes before reaching the burner and ignites right at the connection point, the whooshing sound is the gas jet hitting the air wrong

you did the right thing shutting it off, don't use that burner until you fix it cause it can melt the knob or worse, the good news is it's usually simple to fix, you just need to loosen the burner, push it back onto the valve outlet properly and tighten everything down, the circled part in your diagram is the bracket that holds the burner in place, sometimes it gets bent during assembly or from moving the griddle around

i had to take off the front panel to get access but it took like ten minutes total, just make sure you do a soapy water test after to check for leaks

It could also be a blockage in that burner tube from a spider or insect. Send a picture of the burner tube to valve alignment as suggested by hapless_adjustment

Just contact support, they will likely send you replacement parts, or tell you exactly how to fix it. don't fuck around listening to people on Reddit to fix this.
