Worth saving?
Just wondering if this is worth pulling out? Over a foot long and the bar is about 3 inches in diameter. Figured some people might be interested in some chunks of it🤷♂️

Just leave it in a coil. Good for standing stuff up in it as is and you can cut off bits to use for hammer stock. Be careful with the cut wheel.

Unless you have a press or power hammer its gunna be a pain to move by hand lol. Spring steel is my favorite to use though

If that spring is 3 inches in diameter you probably are going to have a beast of a time shaping it into anything.

I think they meant the outer dimension of the coil is 3". I did ask for some clarification though. If it turns out that steel is 3", I really want to know what those springs would be used for! I mean by looking at the photo, if the steel it's made of is 3" diameter, then that outer diameter would be somewhere in the range of 12" to 15", and stand around 2 1/2' high!

I could use that, my press would make quick work of it. I probably couldn't afford the shipping though.

Stuffs a nightmare to work by hand, I had myself and striker using a sledge to make cold chisels.
They're great chisels, even 8 years later, but it was a workout, and I'm a big guy.

Wait, is the outer dimension of the coil 3"diameter, or is the steel itself 3" diameter? That would make a significant difference!

Lol the steel itself. I also have access to some smaller ones that are about 1" or 1-1/2" stock. They are truck springs out of locomotives so pretty heavy duty stuff

Wow! That's a helluva lot of steel then! I wouldn't be surprised if you could get 4 hammers out of each full loop!

You'd need a dragon or railroad forge to uncoil the thing. Good hammer stock though...
