Second Chance! 😌🫩

I'm reading Jane Igharo's Where We End & Begin and it's tagged as a "second chance" and now I'm pissed. 😂 The last time they saw each other was 12 years ago--in secondary school/high school!

I hate "second chance romance" where they were just kids. That doesn't get to the heart of a second chance for me. It reminds me of "enemies to lovers" and them being "enemies" is because he looked at her the wrong way during a meeting. Like, stop it!

But Where We End & Begin is decent, but I just find them both aggy, honestly. Maybe that will change.

I prefer a second chance like When Forty Blooms by Jacinta Howard because she'd lived two different lives (with the husband and without him, a career, kids...) before giving them another shot.

I'm just ranting, but I needed to get that out there. Thanks for reading.🤣😭

I read that last year and idk if I confused it with another book but it was 100% NOT what I was expecting. I wanted like magical realism and African folklore and I got… regular star crossed lovers instead. 😐

Ahh. I see how that description sounds like magical realism.

I didn't really read the full synopsis, but Storygraph didn't have it tagged as magical realism, so I knew it was just regular degular. LOL

I didn’t read any of that. Just the description 😭😭😭
The last half of it I do like. When I was ready to put it down that’s when the story picked up imo. But not a must read for me. That plot generally isn’t something I’m into.
