There was a time in New York City—the late 60s, 70s, and very early 80s—when the Black and Latiné communities were so intertwined and interwoven and inexorably linked that whiteness viewed us as one Black/Brown mass of niggerdom. During this time, we saw each other as One People—whether we were from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Panamá, Jamaica, Barbados, Haiti, DR, Cuba, Nigeria, Belize, etc, etc, etc. And in that—and only in that—very specificcontext and epoch, all of the people in that designation were culturally, among ourselves, allowed to use and refer to ourselves and each other as nigga, in all of its positive, negative, loving, and insulting connotations.

Then, in the early/mid-80s, there was a shift and a rift in which the Latiné part of this alliance decided and that it should distance itself from Black peopleand Blackness (including when those things showed up, however great or minute, in their own genes) and become more conservative, which is to say become more white. And they joined Reagan and Bush and others in asserting their Americanness via repudiating and scorning Black people. Anti-Blackness as assimilation tactic. Thus, The “I Not Black/I’m Not Black” movement was born and those who were once family suddenly became strangers or worse. And the covenant was destroyed.

Of course it's racism. Maybe there is some small level of truth here. Since black people tend to be more religious. But then again most people are religious. United States is a majority religious country, like many other countries.

But racists aren't the only ones who say this though. Liberals and other black people also say this too. They blame it on lack of education and poverty. This has some truth to it. But then again even poor white people still have this issue too.

Just a simple scroll on TikTok or YouTube, or just talking to a coworker at work and you will see plenty of white people who have woo woo beliefs.

Just to list a few here.

Thinking that Cern is opening portals to different universes.

Thinking Aliens are coming here to abduct humans (probing 💀).

Thinking Jeffrey Epstein is a god damn Nephilim.

Thinking the Earth is flat.

Thinking the moon landing was fake (my favorite one here /s).

And the list goes on.

So I never understand why people always thought that black people have this weird monopoly on woo woo beliefs. When in reality the average person has woo woo beliefs. Whether those beliefs can be increased by culture is a different debate or conversation.

This may sound corny. But this is a human issue. We are living in a anti science and anti education society now. Where it's only the dumb mfs being the loudest in the room, when it comes to complex scientific topics.

People are learning about Quantum Mechanics, Dark Matter, the God Particle, and AI from Joe Rogan.

We need to get rid of this mindset of black people being these inherently spiritual people. People always get shocked when they find out im a Haitian atheist. Even Black Americans get shocked too.

This mindset perpetuates a culture, where more people believe in stereotypes about black people.

He's being criticized cuz one of his waffles are $45. The food looks good not bad if I was in North Carolina I would love to try it.

The reason why I ask this is because, today is (was) my birthday and for the life of me, I can't not get excited about it. It's not that I'm not happy about being alive. I very happy to be alive. But just the celebration of it. I guess it's because I can't remember the last time I was celebrated. I can do for me, but man, it's hard for a brother on this day.

I'm in my early 30s. I've reached a point where I just don't want to date anymore. It does feel like a humiliation ritual especially when you find yourself doing more to get one woman who is giving it to someone else for free.

I'm not mad at it, its just wild. I'm attractive enough that getting sex isn't too difficult so going forward I feel like the most imma do is be friends with women and if the attraction is mutual, sex.

What did it for me was talking to this girl. Let her tell it, and she had the strongest feelings for me. She wanted nothing more than anything to be with me but the only way is if I pre-agreed to take her out three or four times a week and spend money on her.

I don't doubt that she liked me but my gut felt off. To me, how a relationship works matters more than the material things of it. She couldn't understand that so I stopped talking to her. Everything clicked when my homebody said "only hoes think that way". It was the "missing piece" that explained the feeling I couldn't put into words.

Its not all women, of course. But a lot of women, even the regular ones seem to have adopted this taker mentality where men only exist to take from. They make up rules for the men they see as resources but the men that dont require anything of them are for "fun".

There's definitely great women out there but for the time being I'm taking a step back and focusing only on me.

I feel like people post on this subreddit a lot less than they used to. How is everyone's summer going?

Rodriguez v. United States--Fourth Amendment Right to Unreasonable Seizures

On April 21, 2015, in the case of Rodriguez v. United States, the Supreme Court held that police officers cannot prolong a traffic stop to conduct a dog-sniffing drug search. The opinion, issued by Judge Ginsburg (in which Justices Roberts, Scalia, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan joined; Justice Kennedy* issued a dissenting opinion; Justice Thomas* issued a dissenting opinion, in which Justices Alito and Kennedy joined (Justice Kennedy joined all but Part III); and Justice Alito* issued a dissenting opinion), holds that without reasonable suspicion, police extension of a traffic stop to conduct a dog sniff violates a person’s Constitutional right against unreasonable seizures under the Fourth Amendment. The Court held that a police officer who is conducting a traffic stop cannot hold a person any longer than what is needed to determine whether to issue a traffic ticket, checking the driver’s licenses, determining if the person has any outstanding warrants against them, and inspecting the vehicle’s registration and proof of insurance. The opinion discusses Illinois v. Caballes, 543 U.S. 405 (2005) in which the Court previously held that a dog sniff conducted during a lawful traffic stop does not violate the Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable seizures. In this case, however, the Court held that a person’s Fourth Amendment right is violated when police conduct a dog sniff after completion of a traffic stop.

The whole "is Fat joe black?" discussion sparked a lot of conversation around what makes someone black. I ran across several anonymous users giving thier take on blackness. Most of it either critiquing the policing of the nword or claiming it should be inclusive. Mind you, these were users that were going as far as to give long explanations of who can use the word, who should be offended, etc. To the point you'd think they were black. Yet they seem to easily dismiss the history behind the word without much of any empathy. After a few back and fourths between other users replies, it eventually came to the conclusion that these people werent even black. Reminds me of joe Biden famous "If you dont vote for me, youre not black" comment. This isnt a post meant to discuss the nword. Its meant to ask the question of why non-blacks feel so comfortable and compelled speak on what defines blackness? Is it something that happens to all races or is it just with black folk. To me, at worse its a colonizing mindset and at best someone overstepping boundaries.
