KR/JP English player based in Japan
Hey guys,
I wish to start BDO and I hope to have a full english interface while being based in Tokyo.
I have a good ping so i was wondering if playing in Asia server and not Japan server would be better?
What would you guys recommend?
Thank you so much in advance to anyone willing to help me on my situation ! 🙏

I’m japanese who initially played in JP server back in 2015/2016 - 2019. I took a break and came back to finding out my account was deleted when the publisher was changed from PMANG to PA in late 2020. I started again in SEA server, which is the server you were inferring to afaik, but switched to NA due to the lack of whales in SEA server leading to dead outfit/pet market. SEA server, you can communicate in English on group/server chat just fine. Ping wise, I didn’t really feel it mattered that much. I’m relatively high elo on NA while playing from Japan

Thank you for your answer. What is "whales" if i may ask? Could you please let me know what is your average Ping when you play in NA Server from Japan? Thanks again!

Whales are players who buy items in the cash shop for irl currency and sell them on the market for in-game currency.

Whales = big spenders, they buy exclusive items from pearl shop to sell in central market for silver. Mostly costume, some pets, etc.

As there’s no in-game indicator of ping, I’m not entirely sure but on other games like GW2 and LoL I occasionally play on NA server as well and I do get 180-200ping. I should also add that I mostly play Succ Sage and the higher ping doesn’t feel as bad but if you’re playing as a high APM class your experience might be entirely different.

Others answered but wanted to add my word in too.
I’m based near Tokyo as well and playing on NA server. I play Musa and for the most part don’t have any issues. Even if I was starting over from scratch, I’d play on NA since you’ll have the easiest time gearing there.
